I get offers via email all the time to come in and get my bike serviced through some kind of promotion. But when I go in, the service department is booked and they act like it irritates them that I even asked for anything.
I needed a rear tire put on my Ultra Limited. After huffing and puffing about doing it, they told me to bring the bike in. When I did, they saw that I brought my own tire. They said they only mounted tires that they sold.
Well, the catch here is that the only tire they stock for my bike is by far the most expensive one around. $315 or so. For a tire. JUST the tire.
They sell aftermarket tires, but they don't stock them. So unless you go with the most expensive tire out there, you get penalized one way or another. Either you have to wait for them to order something or they won't work on it at all.
I understand liability when it comes to tires bought at other places. But my tire was bought from a local, reputable store (Cycle Gear) and the tech at RCHD even looked at the tire and saw that it was manufactured in 2019. So there shouldn't be any issues here.
And besides that, I had a ride that weekend and would have GLADLY signed a waiver or whatever paperwork they needed me to sign to get it done. I needed their help.
The next weekend, I was changing the oil in my engine, transmission and primary. (I got Sunrise to put the tire on for me, by the way. $175 for a Continental ContiTour.) I went to RCHD to get some gear oil for the transmission and Syn3 for the primary.
I couldn't remember how much I needed of each and asked a tech. He said 1qt each would do it. So that's what I bought.
I got home and looked in my manual just to double-check and I'm glad I did. The manual states the primary needs 38oz, or, about 1 and 1/4 quarts. Not just 1qt.
So I had to drive another 80 miles round trip to get 1 more bottle of Syn3 just because the tech who worked there couldn't remember how much oil went into the primary.
Granted, I couldn't remember, either. But I'm not a paid Harley technician.
Nice building though. ...
Read moreAs I patiently awaited the response I excepted to recieve..the same attitude displayed below my review from "the owner" is the exact way I felt when I walked in the building. There was "no good" of a decent reason for me nor the thousands I know or those who know "who I am" & follow my judgment/advice to return to this establishment NOR give a rating higher than "0" if I could. For that rating reflects the "exact" experience so far that I was rendered. I walked in the door with a "positive" mind & attitude, looked around & was never once greeted nor acknowledged. But that's ok...not a biggy because I'm used to that type of behavior from most establishments like this one. I was there at least 28 minutes honestly looking at everything closely.... especially the "staff". Once I did have valid questions to ask about the merchandise throughout the store not ONE member of the staff made a polite or any attempt to help me. I walked towards two of the worker & BOTH men saw me coming AND GOT UP AND WALKED AWAY from me. As did a young lady as I was about to walk towards her. The one worker I did walk up towards to speak to whom was extremely reluctant to even acknowledge my standing there for 11 minutes was in mid conversation with whom I assume was a customer.... so I totally understand why he took so long to look my way as if I was bothering him. The attitudes from Harley Davidson's staff at Bass Pro/Outlets area was much colder towards me than the A/C in the entire building. Where should "you" & your "staff" improve??? Improve on how you "treat" and "speak" towards "everyone" whether it be via internet OR on site...not just "some" people you see fit to do so for. Hope my keepin' it "1,000" as I "always" have for everyone helps you. I don't know how you thought you were making it seem... but I KNOW how you made it look. I thank you GREATLY for your response & will DEFINITELY keep it in mind when asked about your establishment from anyone. Again...THANK YOU..continue to be blessed & eternally take...
Read moreWanted to rate my experience with the riding academy! The instructors were amazing and I learned a ton. It made me a lot more confident and excited for my riding adventure.
There is a caveat, but I dont want to take away stars for it. As long as HD is the only MSF option in the state, corporate really should avoid getting too much of their marketing and business involved. It kind of bothered me when the phrase "maybe riding a motorcycle isnt for you" was used when riding a 500lb motorcycle as their first bike is a bit more than they can physically handle. Until there is another MSF option somewhere at least in the state that offers training on smaller bikes, it really should be an option and the MSF side of the business should be able to honestly say "maybe a harley isnt for you." Now it just feels like a presumptuous attitude that Harleys are the only motorcycles that exist. They should have a few 250cc enduro bikes and maybe a few 300-400cc sportbikes to choose from. MSF should open a door to the entire world of motorcycling, not just Harley ownership. It's the only bad taste from the whole experience. I wish my fellow classmates the best.
That is 100% toward Harley Corporate and is out of the hands of both the instructors and the salespeople. They are all great folks in there. Whether you want to learn (on a harley) or buy one, theyll take care of you.
To anyone that took this course and didnt make it, please see if you can hop on a smaller bike on private property sometime. Any dirtbike is great. Start there and work your way up to that chromed-out touring sled of your dreams gradually. Baby steps. If youre skilled on a bicycle you can do it. If the Harley street 500 is the only motorcycle you have ever sat on, you might be surprised what kind of...
