I had a very bad experience in the salon. I don't recommend Tara. I came in for a wash and blow-out. When Tara was finished washing my hair, she then took me to her chair for the blowout. The first thing I noticed was that she didn't know how to detangle my hair. She actually started from the top and I could feel the tugging! So I nicely reminded her that you have to start from the bottom of the hair for detangling then work your way up. After she added in several products (too many!), she then started the blow-out from the front. When I asked to "feel" my hair, I noticed that it was really hard, and my hair strands were sticking together. By this time, she called over Paula who was able to help. She told her to wash my hair again and recommended a lighter set of products, which Tara did. By the time, I got back in her chair, she still didn't know how to do a blow-out. Thankfully, Paula came over and showed her how to roll the brush using the blow-dryer, starting with the back. As Tara tried to learn this method, she still started grabbing my hair too tightly from the back. I then asked Paula to come back over to help Tara learn how to blow dry the hair. By this time, I had been in for almost two hours, when Tara's next customer came in. By this time, Tara told me that Paula would finish my hair - which she did thankfully! My issue is that Tara is a cosmetologist on paper only. Some of the simplest things like how to detangle hair - she doesn't know how to do. It would have been better had someone told me she is still in training or whatever her situation was, so at least I would know. But I wasn't told any of this. My appointment is now over, and while I'm thankful that Paula stepped in, you shouldn't have Tara doing hair for people of color if she isn't properly trained at doing it. I would like to warn others not to use her, and at least give your management there a heads up about my experience being so entirely bad (except for when Paula stepped in and...
Read moreThe short: I now have lopsided brows The long: see below
Second time using the Benefit Brow Bar at this location. The first time went so well, that I scheduled a follow-up appointment on the same day to maintain the look. I knew something had went wrong when at the end of the appointment, the Cosmetologist asked me, “Do you ever fill in your brows?” I had not come to the appointment with any makeup on my brows and I feel like this should have been asked before she started. Then she said, “Me and this one brow always fight. Have you ever noticed that it is shorter than the other?” For as long as I have had brows on my face, I have never noticed that one is shorter than the other and it’s funny how she did not mention this defect in my brows at our first appointment together or even at the start of the second appointment. When she handed me the mirror, I saw that the tail of my left brow is approximately a quarter-inch shorter than my right brow. As there was nothing to be done (what’s gone is gone unfortunately), I did not complain and paid my bill. Last appointment, the Ulta cashier told me how great my eyebrows looked. This time, she didn’t say a word. Probably because I was looking a little lopsided. I understand that mistakes happen, but the fact that she tried to cover it up rather than own the mistake has made me decide to not use this Brow Bar or recommend it to anyone. Fingers crossed that the hair grows back, or I guess I am doomed to have a...
Read moreI normally have pretty good experiences at this store; however, I've been coming in every couple of days lately to browse and kill time between work and evening Christmas parties and activities. I know stores can look kind of crazy during the holiday season, so I didn't think too much when I saw some products scattered and misplaced and displays needing attention. However, I came in on a Friday, then came back on Tuesday and the same displays were still a mess, and the exact same Osea products were misplaced on different aisles, totally unmoved, which says to me this location's staff hasn't cleaned the store in four days. That really grossed me out and I think I'm going to have to shop at a different location that's better maintained. I used to manage retail, so it's crazy to me that no one noticed that for so many days. In general I often feel like this store is kind of picked over and not as tidy as other locations, and that's not an experience I want to have for the money. Having a clean and orderly store is the baseline and it's a turnoff to buy cosmetics you put on your face from a...
