2nd edit: I decided to stop in again and give the place another shot while I was in the area and was confronted about my review by an employee. Edit: My response afterwards to the owner questioning why I wanted to know the return policy….the driver I bought didn’t last one driving range session before the club head flew off. Returned it and will never shop again. The shaft was also mislabeled and was not noted when purchasing
I visited this store and was looking for a set of irons. I found a set that had a slight defect so I asked if I could get a bit of a better price, as I also pulled up a few eBay listings that showed the specific set much cheaper. All good and done, but I ended up not really liking them so I returned them. I stopped in again today and found a driver that I was interested in, again, with defects as everything is used. 90% of the shafts on the clubs are mislabeled as far as the flex goes and there is no regard to if something is a men’s or women’s. I took it to the front and asked if I would be able to get it for $75 as opposed to the $94 just due to the damage to the club head. The owner was the one I spoke to this time and he took one look at the club and told me “we don’t do negotiations, it makes business really hard” I said it hasn’t been an issue my first time in and at other stores that sell used gear. I agreed to pay the full price anyway and I asked to confirm if the 30 day return policy stands true on all items. He asked “why would you want to return this?”. After that I figured the only way I’m coming back is if I need to return the golf club, not going to shop there for anything new with that type of attitude. He could’ve politely said no I’m sorry but I can’t negotiate but instead said it makes business too difficult to do with people and then questioned why I would want to return a golf club that I wasn’t able to swing...
Read moreMuch like another review here, I was in the store on June 19, and found several golf clubs that I was going to purchase, but was turned away from purchasing, and was given a vague date of when I could come back. Knowing that open date is now 7/20, I see the chances of actually getting the clubs that I saw a month earlier as miniscule. When the effort to even go to the store to check when I'm able to go vs the opportunity of being able to purchase is measured, it becomes not worth it.
On this stretch of Route 10, there is a PGA Tour Superstore and a Golf Galaxy relatively close, and the level of shenanigans to make a purchase at those is fairly low. Even the private online sellers from Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist in the Parsipanny and Morristown areas, are easier to deal with, and I cannot overstate how frustrating the franchisor restrictions are to the customer, and impact our decision if we are to return.
After a second visit after the "grand opening" - I was able to purchase some clubs, but not the Ping Anser 4, Ping Zing 2, and USKG Jr set that I saw during my first visit. Considering this I can pass along a couple more stars, but my disappointment still is there since the item I wanted to purchase was denied, and then not able to get when I visited again.
Another visit got me a Redwood Zing (RH 35") and a Zing 5 (Phoenix) that was in good shape just needing a re-grip, I'll pop along another star, but, the Anser that got away still hurts.
In short - the likelihood that you'll find something that will suit your needs at a good price is very good, but don't count on finding exactly what you are looking for. For me, it's more of a treasure hunt, looking for particular golf clubs, but for others needing a lacrosse stick or baseball bat for trying out a sport, it's a...
Read moreWow, this place was awesome! After looking at reviews and pictures, we drove an hour to get here and it was well worth it! I wanted to get my son ready for toddler baseball but didn’t want to buy brand new and spend $500 so we picked up a bat, glove, cleats, helmet, batting gloves, handful of baseballs and a nice baseball bag to hold it all for a 1/4 of what I would have paid new. All of it was in good condition. Jerry, either owner or employee, was VERY friendly and gladly helped with fitment of some of his gear. All their gear is very well organized by sport and sizes and most of it is in great condition. Prices are extremely reasonable. Very happy and will be back when we need more sports gear! Thanks...
