What a great experience! Thank you, Trisha, for finding me the perfect solution for my bad back. It was just delivered by your nice, fast, efficient and careful delivery team. I'm sitting in this bad boy as I type! I will definitely shop with you next time I need any kind of furniture or mattress! And I will definitely recommend Elam's to anyone I know needing the right piece of furniture from a great local company!
Well, the above was written before I realized that couch Trisha helped me pick was not actually leather at all. It fell apart in less than a year. Because the price had been good, we tried again and bought a second sofa - this time brand new and leather. We found a knick in the leather and wanted to take care of it before it got worse so we contacted Elam's to try to get help for a repair kit or at least advice on the color. They checked with the manufacturer and got back to me saying there was no repair kit or replacement cover available but they offered to send their repairman to fix it for a fee. We agreed. When the repairman came, we discovered that the headrest wasn't working correctly. The repairman, a nice gentleman, said he would document the problem and let Elam's know. When my husband attempted to give the repairman the payment for the seat repair, he said nothing was due as it was under warranty. Elam's worked with Parker House to get a replacement seat back for the headrest that wasn't working. Thank you for that. But then proceeded to message me like I was a criminal for not paying for the seat repair. Then they said they told me to take it to an upholstery shop. At this point, I stopped being accepting of mistakes and misunderstandings and got pretty pissed. The seat repair didn't work and we identified more quality issues with this sofa that the repairman actually said were normal. This isn't quality furniture nor is this good service. As I write this I am looking for a large sofa to replace another we recently sold. Given our interactions, we will be skipping Elam's altogether. Sad.
Though Tyler, the manager, stepped in and waived fees, arguing to get to that point ruined my day. I appreciate the fact that Elam's said they will work with the manufacturer to see about the other needed repairs we identified. I will update this review accordingly based on...
Read moreBeing new to the area and having had just bought a home, I was in need of new furniture. I set out expecting to go shopping around at multiple places and I first stopped into Elamâs not knowing anything but expecting a big box type chain store environment and to be treated as if I had just walked onto a sales lot full of used cars. Boy, was I wrong. After meeting Tyler, my sales guy, I find out that this is a family owned and locally run business, and not part of some corporate chain who places more importance on making money than selling a quality product. Additionally, on top of them being local, I am told that they support local. Which meant that the main brand of furniture they offer is manufactured near by. As in Portland. Supporting local business is very important to me and my family so it was a no brainer that this man was who was going to be selling me my furniture. Tyler was very knowledgeable, personable and patiently answered any question I could throw at him. Expecting to buy only one couch for my home, I ended up buying two. Well, technically three as these couches are quite large LOL. The quality of the product could not only be seen but could also be felt. The couches were well built, sturdy and very comfortable. I walked in expecting to buy a cookie cutter, mass produced âoff the shelfâ type product that everyone has and ended up walking out feeling like I just bought a custom piece of furniture that only I have. Overall all a experience, and I would definitely recommend Elamâs to anyone in need of new furniture. Ask...
Read moreWe purchased a couch and loveseat 1 1/2 years ago from Elams. Like many other reviewers, our furniture came months later. Backordered due to covid. , I believe Elams was somewhat reluctant to give information regarding the timeline. The furniture arrived and I called and told Elams I was pleased with the look of the pieces. A month ago, I contacted Elams because both pieces were âsqueakingâ when we would get up off the furniture. We paid $27 to have a technician come and evaluate the problem. He oiled two springs and said the is caused by Stanton workmanship. We were shocked. We were told it was a great company. We now have to live with it. Iâve contacted Stanton because Elams is not liable for any workmanship issues. Unfortunately, we purchased substandard furniture and Elams does stand behind this product. Just wanted to educate others on what to address/educate themselves before purchasing this line of furniture.
On 5/5, the Elam family reached out to us. A technician is returning to relook at our furniture. Hopefully, he will be able to stop the squeaking permanently. Stanton Furniture also contacted us and offered to look into the issue. We appreciate both Elamâs and Stantonâs quick response. We bought locally to support our community and...
