Barry's Venice — Local services in Los Angeles

My very first Barry’s class and absolutely lovin’ it! My friends who know how much I loce running have kept asking me to go and saying I would certainly be hooked and they’re nothing but right!

I went to the Venice one and the spot was actually much bigger than it looked from outside. Alex, the trainer for my Run and Lift early morning class, was super welcoming and totally delivering top-notch first-timer experience for me, paying detailed attention that I got the instructions correctly and did the right movements. The intensity of the workout forced me to my limit, but they did let people do it on their own pace.

The complementary facilities like locker, shower room, and even free towels made bunch of plus points, though one downside might be I’d prefer it to be cleaner (read: the women’s bathroom might need more frequent cleaning especially with shedding hair).

You did have the option to indulge post the workouts by getting their smoothies, which was also available to be pre-ordered and tailored to your preference by customizing the ingredients.

Not to mention, the Venice one had plenty of free...

So so disappointed in my experience at Barry’s Venice! I have to say I am a fan of Barry’s. I usually go at least once or twice a month, at the Paris or Noho (NYC) locations. Usually, I am always very satisfied and motivated during and after a class. But this time it was so boring! Galya the instructor was so low energy! Always the same tone, not motivating at all, and the playlist was so bad. Usually the music is more intense when we have to sprint and the intensity of the lights change, etc. This time it was always the same and I didn’t feel like challenging myself like I usually do. Basically, I felt like Galya didn’t care at all. I voiced my bad experience to the front desk guy, I hope he takes it into consideration so that other customers don’t have such a poor experience like I did! My friend gifted me some classes for my birthday and I’m so happy she did! I haven’t done Barry’s for a couple years and I’m excited to jump back in. It is such a great work out.

I did a full body - upper focus class with Chris this morning and loved it. Check in was smooth, the facilities were clean and the staff was really friendly. The guy at reception made me feel really comfortable (wish I got his name!) He explained the whole process to me, pointed out where the lockers were and explained what to expect. Chris (the instructor) introduced himself to me before class which was really nice. His instructions were really clear, he was extremely motivating and gave different options for difficulty depending on how hard you wanted to push yourself that day.
