The Staff and location are wonderful but the services are sub par, I went in to get a facial, and when speaking with them on the phone and in person I stated my main concern was acne and extractions, I paid 130$ without tip for them to attempt to squeeze 6 pimples and i can gaurantee that 3 of those nothing came out, mind you my face is basically covered with black heads, I came home and squeezed around my nose and plenty came out, all that this tells me is they want to to come in over and over again. My acne got bad after I was in an accident and well my pores on my face opened up, and since my face is one of the few areas on my body where I can actually sweat from I have a lot of black heads.
The overall facial, which I was not too interested in was fine, a bunch of masks etc, but in the beginning of the session I was told that we would spend a good portion of the time on extractions, I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING WHEN I SAY THIS, she spent no more that a minute and thirty seconds on the extraction, telling me I should come back soon after buying a handful of their products to wash my face with so my pores open up. I could have honestly cleaned up more of my face without any of those products at home.
Also my mother got a massage here not to long before I came in, well the massage was, well it was not a massage and its an embarrassment that they would call it that. The best way to describe it is; if you saw a dog with every bone broken in its body and you tried to pet it without hurting it. Asking for more pressure does nothing, and the constant talking during the massage did not help her relax what so ever. Previously I had a masseuse give me massages and gave me lessons, she had one massage from him and said that there was no comparison. The "massage" from Burke Williams is basically someone applying lotion onto your body for $160, nothing more nothing less. While the massage she received from my masseuse although at times not the most pleasant because he was actually relieving tension in areas with built up stress, during the massage you felt as though the tension was being removes (as a massage should feel), and after that massage she felt rejuvenated, now compare that with the Burke Williams Massage, you left the spa feeling even more stressed that you had to actually pay for that.
I know as soon as I left Burke Williams today I was more pissed off than anything else. Mind you I have not had many facials in my life, but the one I had prior to this I left the place, my face was quite red and spotty but I did not have any acne left on my face, and at that point in my life I did nothing to even attempt to keep my face maintained. Yes it hurt, but that is what I expect out of a facial where I want all of the black heads on my face removed!
The 1 star is for the happy staff and really nice facilities there. Everything was clean and pretty, seems like a great place to soak in the tub, steam room, sauna, but for any other service I think you can buy a bottle of lotion and either rub it on your face or all over your body for way cheaper than they offer.
Again, I have no problem paying the price they charge as long as the service provided reflects the price. So if I come in and only have 1 concern and they do NOTHING to attempt to fix it, I find that to be a waste of money.
ANY OTHER SPA WILL DO A...
Read moreUpdating my review based on recent experience: After an amazing facial with Rosie (who I cannot recommend highly enough), I booked a set of teen facials for my daughters. I spent roughly 20 minutes working on this with Abby at the front desk. I did so in-person to make sure they got in together and on our special date, as part of a larger special celebration. Confirmed in person and via email. Arrived on the date to be told that the appointments were canceled. To make a long story short, there was some sort of confusion regarding my daughter's name and another customer with the same name (despite the face that my daughter is a minor under my account, not an adult with her own). I get it, that stuff happens. However, as a consistent member, I am deeply disappointed in the customer service response and I don't plan on continuing my membership after using this month's credit. Nothing was offered as compensation at the time, except to come back for a single facial opening - nothing that would accommodate both girls. Three phone calls later, we were given 20% off the next facial. Womp. That feels so dismissive. Their mistake literally ruined a planned day for three people...and they give us the equivalent of a monthly promotional discount. I just expected more for my loyalty and after what they put us through today. I'm not the person who complains about little customer service issues. There have been moments when my experience was less-than-optimal here but I never complained because I understand that we are all human. I choose to look at the wonderful parts of this establishment. But, I don't like feeling like people don't care. That's now how I feel about this business. It felt more like they wanted to justify their error than actually compensate us for what they ruined for us today. I think the point of this review is to say that if you are looking for a good spa day, this is a good place for massages and facials. But, if you are looking to actually feel like people care about your experience, especially as a member...maybe look/invest somewhere else.
Love this place. Clean, stocked, welcoming. I agree w those who say a quiet room w dim lights would make it even better, but BW has become my go-to escape. Most places are struggling with staffing right now and facing customer service issues bc of that, but I've never had an issue here. The one time I had a complaint about my massage, I was immediately given a massive discount without even requesting one. Rosie is amazing...
Read moreI didn't like my facial experience at Burke Williams-Woodland Hills this past Sunday 11/20. I got the Radiance facial for my mother and I; and we both came out of the session red and irritated. We looked at our skins up-close and we weren't only red/irritated but we still had the black heads we went in to have removed. The facial is supposed to focus on your preference and we decided on cleansing and extractions. Cleansing and extracting didn't happen. Our skins were red and irritated after the facial, and started breaking out. The black heads were still intact. Even the easy ones to take out were left untouched. That is why we get facials to get a deep skin cleaning, hydration and an after glow. I got no glow just redness. We were very disappointed to get such bad service at such a super hyped-up place. I spoke to the manager on duty and she said she couldn't give me refund. It is been 3days now and no manager has called me back. By far this was the worse service we have ever gotten at a spa. Most spas and estheticians really take pride in taking care of their clients, not here. Here i felt like I was just being applied products and sold to without the actual service that I was paying for. I naturally want a refund and the manager in-charge said she could only give me 20% off my next visit. I don't want to go back there. Why would I want a next visit - even with a 20% off. TO get a full refund, I need to call on a regular business day (I went on Sunday) because she didn't have the authority to do so. Ok, now I have to get a hold of someone on the phone. Awful experience. Wish me luck with the calls. Don't recommend getting facials here. Also the manager in-charge told me that the person that gave me the service is new. OMG! Why did she book me with an inexperienced esthetician, no wonder I got such...
