Never again. I took a few items to the store to sell. They weren’t interested in my long designer gowns, just a short designer dress and a small purse. The dress didn’t fit me anymore and I was happy to hear I could get about $120. I was on the fence about leaving the small purse behind since my sister mentioned that she liked it and I was thinking of giving it to her. I paid $200. for it new, I only used it twice and it was in excellent condition. The girl checking my items in said they could sell it for $60., minus their commission. That was lower than I wanted to sell it for but I decided to leave it at the store. Fast forward to almost 3 months later. Since I didn’t hear from them, I didn’t think either items sold. I was wrong. I was told by the sales person I spoke to over the phone that the purse sold for $38. and my portion, minus their commission is $11.04. What!? Seriously! I never agreed to selling it for less than sixty dollars or I wouldn’t have left it there. Then, the sales person told me that I should have gone online and kept track of the items. If I wanted to do everything online myself then I would’ve listed it for sale myself on Poshmark, eBay or Facebook marketplace. I told her that I’d be stopping at the store to pick up my measly $11.04 and designer dress that didn’t sell. She told me I have to go online to request the dress back before I pick it up. I should be able to pick up my own dress from the store and have them do the computer stuff for me. I don’t work for the store and my time is valuable. She told me that was the only way it could be done and she’ll text me the link. She never text me the link. Good thing I didn’t trust them with my higher end items. Not only will I never take anything in there ever again to sell, I will never buy anything from them or recommend anyone either. The staff is unprofessional and didn’t charge the fees they quoted. The parking is a giant...
Read moreThis review is long overdue but after my most recent experience, I felt like I had to say something. I found out about this store from a friend and have been coming in for several years anytime I need to buy my girlfriend a fancy gift but want to save a bit of money. The Closet always has a pretty impressive selection of women’s purses and jewelry from brands that I could never normally afford. Every time I drop in before Valentine's Day or my girlfriend’s birthday, the employees at this store have always helped me find an incredible gift that my girlfriend always loves. The stuff they sell is not all second-hand either, a lot of it is brand new with the tags still on!
The reason why I feel like I needed to write this review was that most recently, the employees at The Closet helped me pick out this incredible Roberto Coin bracelet that I just gave to my GF for her bday. When she opened the box, she went all teary-eyed with joy. The next day she Google searched the bracelet (what girl wouldn't) and saw that it is currently being sold on Saks Fifth Avenue’s website for well over a thousand dollars but I paid a fraction of the price at The Closest…but shhh, don’t tell her.
Needless to say, even though I’m a dude, I will always continue to come here. The employees are always so helpful, the store has an insane selection of high-end designers, and the prices...
Read moreDo not consign or shop at this store. Was guaranteed by Olivia that my items would not be discounted / if any damage was caused in their possession the situation would be rectified. Had both of these issues occur and called multiple times to not receive a reply. Had to come in store to have the manager not even be to figure out which item I’m even talking about / if there was even any note of the complaint taken. You’re better off getting 30% from any other consignment service. Most unprofessional system / portal in place for consigners you’re better off just donating your clothes seeing as the staff acts clueless / despondent. Was told my item sold at the beginning of December and then now it magically sold in January? Was told they will not honor anything Olivia said and the manager sneered like a child and told me my pants are retro if that has to do with the fact that my Maison Margiela for Hermes piece is damaged in their possession. Like why comment on what style a pant is??? What does that have to do with anything. Great to know how unprofessional...
