I dined here last night (9/26) with my boyfriend after working my 12 hour shift. We just walked in and seated ourselves at the bar and ordered some drinks and food.
I had the watermelon drink and he had the matcha mojito. We both loved the 2 drinks. My watermelon drink didn't have a strong vodka taste to it (which I like because I wasn't feeling like I wanted to get hammered lol) so I throughly enjoyed the sweetness of it. The matcha mojito was a little sus to me but it was really refreshing.
For apps, we just ordered the Korean Fried Cauliflower. It was one of the best fried cauliflower we had. Some place go really heavy handed on the batter but the batter for this on this was light. The sauce was spot on too. The gochujang and miso complemented each other perfectly.
For main, we both had the steak (medium rare) and Lobster Ravioli. I must say, I literally cut the steak with a butter knife and it cut beautifully. I was offered a steak knife to use but I refused it lol. I mean, if it works, it works! Less silverware to wash. The steak was cooked perfectly for us. The lobster ravioli was amazing. Very rich and decadent. The lobster filling in the inside wasn't too salty. I thought it was a perfect pair. And their serving size was perfect for me. I wasn't left feeling extremely full that I couldn't breathe. There would be times where I couldn't finish a steak dinner but I cleaned this one out pretty well.
Lastly dessert, I initially wanted the molten chocolate cake but they unfortunately said they didn't have anymore cakes left. I was a little sad about it so we just asked for the check. Then one of the staff members named Chloe came to us and offered if there was any other dessert we would like to try and I said no. Then she said, "how about I offer you a free one?". I thought she was pulling my leg but she was actually serious. That shook me and I said ok. I really wasn't expecting that at all. We picked the Apple Pie and wow, it's worth it. The apple filling was decadent and wasn't to sweet, The crust was light and flaky. And the Tahitian Vanilla ice cream was excellent. Shout out to Chloe for being so nice to us. It was incredibly thoughtful of her to do that for us!
We will be definitely coming back here to try more of their stuff. My boyfriend and I have established this as our "usual dinner date spot". We just love the ambiance and the service. Thank you for making our experience a...
Read moreOur reservation was for 9:45pm. We weren’t aware they offered champagne on the wait, as I did see a couple across from us with a glass. We were seated at a wet table with unclean seats. There was still food underneath the table as well. We asked a random waiter if we could get napkins to dry it off. Instead of the waiter getting us napkins he responded, “It was just sanitized” and sent a female waitress to dry it off. I believe he was more upset that we had interrupted his dance moves. We ordered two drinks from the bar and the crab cakes as soon as we sat down. After 20 minutes, our waitress came back with one drink and the crab cakes and mentioned she was still waiting on our other beverage. We asked for two cups of water (since we hadn’t been served any) and ordered our main course at this time. After some time, we noticed two other tables that had arrived after us received their drinks from the bar. After another 20 mins passed, our waitress came back and told us they no longer had the mix for the drink we were waiting on. We proceeded to order two more drinks from the bar, being that it was a longer wait than expected. After an hour of no drinks or food (10:45pm) I request the check for the crab cakes and one beverage. A young male who said he was the manager approached the table with the drinks we ordered and said they would be covered. We did not want the drinks and thought they were getting the check. We waited 5 more mins and proceeded to the entry to asked if we could get the check so we could leave. Here comes our waitress with a food delivery to a table we were no longer occupying. At this point, we just wanted out. He took another 5 mins to figure out the check, then was rude about the pricing. Understand, we only received two items during our complete seating at the table, which should have been covered by the resturant. I paid $50.00 for one drink and crab cakes one hour after the time of arrival. It was a horrible experience, which sucks because the one beverage and crab cakes were good. After reading some reviews, racism could be the issue. I am an African American female, but It’s 2022… are we really still doing this?! If so, just put a sign on the door that says “No Blacks Allowed!” This would save my...
Read moreWhy did I wait so long to check out JOEY!? I’m so mad at myself! I have passed by JOEY in Woodland Hills, and every time I kept telling myself I need to check it out, I need to check it out. Guess what?? I FINALLY did!!
I made a reservation at Joey to celebrate my sister's birthday a few nights ago. When we pulled up in front of the restaurant, I was already happy because they offer valet!!! I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of circling around and around to find a parking spot. If valet is offered, I’m always for it!
When we entered, we were greeted immediately and were given a complimentary glass of champagne! Yes, free! I felt so fancy! While we received our champagne, I overheard that they had an hour wait. Yikes! Make sure you make a reservation! Once we all (we were a party of 5) received our glass, we were seated right away.
I was already in my happy place! The music was on point, our booth was perfect, the ambiance and Friday night vibes were perfection! Our waiter, Braxton, greeted us in a timely fashion and took our drink & appetizer orders. For the table, we ordered the Hibachi Wings (they were eh), Korean Fried Cauliflower (YES!), and the Japanese Gyoza (Yes!). To drink, I had something with watermelon, which was tasty. For the main course, I had the Joey Classic 14oz Prime New York Steak with crispy mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was sooooo delicious! Lastly, dessert, I was a bit saddened by the desserts we got. We ordered the apple pie and the chocolate cake. The apple pie was a bit hard and wasn’t all that good. The chocolate cake was basic; it didn’t wow me. I also ordered a cappuccino, but unfortunately, they didn’t have regular sugar, so that kind of ruined it for me. Booooo
Everything was going so well, but when it came to the end of the evening, the desserts and coffee were a miss. Don’t give up on the desserts, JOEY! I always have to get dessert and coffee when I go out for dinner. For me, it’s just an excellent way to end the night. But it just didn’t do it for me.
Overall, I had a good time! The server was great, and the manager Chole was a sweetheart. I look forward to my next dinner at JOEY! Maybe no...
