I’ve been going to another spa for a long time, but during the full COVID-19 era, they spiked their price so much, I was permanently turned off. Then I heard great things about Crystal Spa, so I started going there instead. It’s SO MUCH better, women only area that includes certain special services, saunas (both steam & dry), jacuzzis both hot & ICE 😱🥶 COLD), various washing and shower facilities. If you want to venture out to the rest of the special hot & cold rooms (I don’t do all of them bc I run out of energy 🤣, but I tend to hang out in the charcoal detox room or the Salt Room ), and I only peek into the other room so that I don’t forget that they are there 🤣. The huge communal area also has massage chairs, foot masseuse (appt), lying about to nap or rest matted floor (with blanket mats and pillows also available. Someone commented that they are used by all and therefore unhygienic… Well, everyone must take a shower before you do anything… ). On Pro Side- an commenter commented that Crystal Spa is the only spa that still provide Ayurveda hair/body products (5 Stars!), also the fact that there is a huge area for all genders (fully clothed in gym clothes), that’s nice too if couples or families want to hang out. The front reception people - I think they can benefit from Starbucks training sessions of customer service 🤣, but friendly enough. Much friendlier than Chinese but Less than Japanese 🤣 The towel girl (?) didn’t seem to have gotten any customers service training (it shows, but if you ask, they promptly attend to your request, but you have to ask…) Special treatments- Great service 🙏❤️🌹 The specials you choose can include a heavenly body scrub (I always choose those!). When they are done, I’m literally in Cloud 9…💕❤️💕❤️💕 Because I understand some Koreans want the serious scrubbing, I must always remember to tell them, “Light scrubbing, Por favor 🤣” But not to worry, you can always tell them, “Yo, take it easy” or the like, any time- it’s less work for them. You come out spanking CLEAN, baby soft skin, LONG GONE are all the dead skin layers and near dead skin. Someone said the gender free gym clothes look worn. Yes, a bit- but it’s an evidence that they run those uniforms through hospital-grade washing (KILL all germs!) Since nobody works out in those, and everyone has had shower before putting them on, I wonder whether they need to run those uniforms through so much industrial hospital strength washers & dryers… but whatever. My organizational effectiveness training crept into my head for a second 🤣 All in all, I would give Crystal Spa 9.75/10. Olympic Spa, on the other hand, a...
Read moreI visited on a Saturday, and a Sunday, in early august. What they have: Soaking tubs, spa services, saunas (wet, dry) private areas, co-ed areas, ice room, charcoal room... this place isn't over the top, and hots every thing most important in a korean-style day spa. This is like a nice, well-maintained jimjilbang in South Korea, but the Aveda addition is a nice one! Using the Aveda products for everything (you shower yourself before gettgin in, after, and they sell products and let you sample the products such as lotion and the like in the entrance and in the "getting ready" areas of the locker room) The Avenda products felt and smelled amazing, left my hair smooth and silky. I paid extra for the body scrub service, which is top notch. The tv with the hot tub and ice bath makes up for only having two bath options! I went back again the next day. This time I got the oil massage (I think it was a half hour of heaven) came with a facial that left me glowing, both services included a free shampoo/conditioner aka a delightful head massage. I didn't sleep over or stay into night time, but I considered it--the sleeping rooms are inside of the gendered locker areas and labeled for relaxation. Blankets available! Great, kind staff, really helpful, treated you well. The food at the snack area was tasty, I really enjoyed the shaved ice, it was HUGE and I shared it with a friend. If I lived in LA I would go here...

The positives: The front desk staff was lovely and explained things very well.
The negatives: I went for a scrub and massage, but it was incredibly uncomfortable. The massage was done on the same table as the scrub, and that table was extremely hard and uncomfortable. I told her I needed a towel rolled under my back because it hurt and she kept taking it bac/away. She was also so extremely rough and showed no care. It took me a week to recover from the bruises. During my massage, several staff members gathered around me, talking loudly. When I opened my eyes, I saw six of the massage staff surrounding me, smiling and pointing at my body, specifically my butt. It was the opposite of relaxing. I almost left immediately
Then I had a facial. The esthetician's phone rang during the session, and she answered it right by my head, proceeding to have a conversation while using her dirty hands on my face.
To top it off, the massage therapist chased me down in the locker room to demand her tip, even though I had already explained I needed to pay with a card. The entire experience was very uncomfortable.
I paid a lot of money on my birthday to feel like a sideshow and leave feeling more stressed than...
