Updated review- A solid 2 stars, down from 5. We’ve frequented this restaurant many times and used to call it our favorite Korean bbq restaurant due to its quality of meats and service. However, this last visit has really left a sour taste in our mouth and I’m not sure if we want to continue dining here.
6/7/2025 at 12:30pm I reserved this almost a week in advance for a party of 12. We had family in town for our wedding and were excited to take them to our favorite Korean bbq restaurant. Upon entering, the men that were there were rude and we did not feel welcome.
We were seated in 3 different tables in the corner in the front of the restaurant. We all ordered our food and once it came, he didn’t even wait or announce that our meat came and lifted the box up. My sister didn’t even get a video of the dry ice (honestly, reason she wanted to come). I’m not sure what the issue was on this day but the service was SO SLOW. The timing of our meat cooking was so off. We all got full and it took almost 2 hours, some people had to leave before our meat even finished cooking (we took our last meat to go). Our salad (my favorite) took FOREVER to come out. We kept asking for it and were told it’s on its way. Our party literally got the salad 3/4 way into our meal. It wasn’t that busy and there seemed to have been 2-3 servers. One other table got their salad as soon as their food came out. I was very confused. The white rice seemed old. My mon didn’t even touch it because she could tell by the color and smell.
Usually, service is so good. The meats are grilled to perfection and timed well so we have no huge gaps. This was not the case. The guys looked like we were intruding on their day. They looked like they were in a bad mood and being forced to work.
Really poor experience and hate that a meal was wasted here for my family who was visiting. Not sure if we will be back.
Mun is a fairly new Korean BBQ steakhouse that opened in the heart of Koreatown! They are usually packed during the weekends but my bf and I visited on a Monday night and we were seated immediately.
The interior is extremely spacious and they even have seating on the second floor,l overlooking the first floor. Their ventilation system is within the table itself, so there isn't an overhead vent like some KBbq restaurants. This helped the restaurant look spacious and clean and it was not smoky because the smoke gets sucked directly from the grill. (We did not walk out smelling like meat)
MUN'S CHOICE $55/person *This included 4 meats: aged ribeye, wagyu chuck tail flap, prime hanging tender, and marinated boneless short rib. *Also included in this deal: bulgogi yuk Jeon, japchae, Mun stew, Mun's mushroom, and seasonal slush.
All 4 of their meats were so juicy and tender but my favorite was the prime hanging tender. It was the juiciest and most flavorful. They cook it to your liking and all you have to do is eat! As you can tell from the picture, the quality of meat here is out of this world. It isn't your typical Korean bbq restaurant.
The sides and extra dishes were delicious. We thought it wouldn't be enough food but they give you just the right amount for the party and we walked out so full.
The customer service was exceptional and attentive. They continued to refill the side dishes that we finished.
We will definitely be back when we want to...
Read moreMy friends and I came here to celebrate one of their birthday. I made reservations through Yelp since I read on the reviews that they do get busy. We took an uber here so we didn't have to find parking but I saw you can park at a public parking structure nearby. We arrived early so I tried to check in with the host. The host stand is not very visible so it took some time for me to find the person who sit you. After I found him, he said our table wasn't ready yet but it was ready after like 15 minutes. We all decided to do the Mun's choice option because I wanted the way they present the meat to the table with smoke. They didn't really tell us the portion or size of the meat but we were expecting more to feed 4 men's. They brought out the complimentary side dishes first and it was mostly okay but we really wanted the meat. The presentation of the Mun's choice dish is awesome with the smoke so the birthday boy was impress. We saw the portion of the meat and it was basically 2 prime ribeye, 8 pieces of the hanging tender, 8 pieces of the chuck tail flip and 4 strip of the boneless short rib. Our favorite meat were the short rib which the marinated was delicious and the prime ribeye which was so tender. The rice took a while to come out and also the noodles. The service was awesome even when they were busy. It was awesome ending the night eating the seasonal slush because it was delicious.
My score: Food: 4 star, we would have like more meat for the price we paid but the meat that were got was still delicious.
Atmosphere: 4 star, there not too much smoke inside the restaurant when bbqing the meat but it can feel compact if all the tables are taken.
Service: 5 star, the service we received here was amazing and all the staff were attentive...
Read moreOne of the best KBBQ experiences I’ve ever had in Los Angeles. They don’t have as large of a menu as some other places close by but their meat, and just in general all of their ingredients, is higher quality than other places. I chose to bring my dog for lunch and was able to do so because they have a private open air patio in the back that is tree covered. Everyone was really sweet to my dog, and me, so I felt very comfortable and already want to go back. I was able to meet the owner and she was extremely polite. She came by our table and even gave us some homemade bacon treats which my dog has been enjoying since our visit. Our server Derek was also fabulous and did a great job. Parking is also pretty easy as well. You can do metered street parking or park across the street in the H Mart parking lot. They offer up to 3 hours of free parking if you have a receipt so you can always just go in H Mart and buy a drink and have your parking be free.
There were just two of us dining so we chose Mun’s Choice which is $60/person. It comes with Prime Ribeye, Prime Hanging Tender (my fav of the 4), Prime Chuck Tail Flap, and Marinated Boneless Short Ribs. It also came with a ton of sides: Cheese Fondue, Bulgogi Yuk Jeon, Japchae, Mun Stew, Mun’s Mushrooms, and Seasonal Slush. All were delicious but the bulgogi patties with onions and mustard on top was my fav of the sides.
Overall a fantastic meal in a great setting. The entire staff was extremely polite and welcoming, and the food was delicious so I would strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone who is a fan of KBBQ....
