Dr Shin performed a laparoscopic subtotal colectomy on me (because my intestines were about 8 feet long), February of 2013. The surgery was supposed to take about 3 hours. However, he found so much scar tissue, that it took about 8 hours. Dr Shin chose to continue the surgery Laparoscopically, because that is what he promised me. But when he made that promise, I’m sure he wasn’t anticipating having to spend hours & hours peeling away excess scar tissue, before he could actually perform the surgery. He could have chosen, to make it easier for himself, by cutting me open & performing the surgery, but he did not. His level of compassion & kindness were incredible. Due to the complications from the excess scar tissue, I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. And no matter how busy he was, he came to see me every single day. Sometimes even showing up looking exhausted, after performing surgeries. He even took me for stroll, in a wheelchair, so I could finally get out of the room.
