Light fishing I hear there's actually some fish, but never seen anyone catch any fish of any kind. There's 3 to 4 different species of ducks that will eat from your hand, or just throw bread and they'll come.
There are meeting rooms on both sides of the lake, inside basketball courts (request plus maybe a fee required and unsure of fees) next to other parts of the building, one room next to the basketball court is used as a Polling Place for County and State Elections. There is live music in the Music Building (also used for Pollworker Training Classes for Elections), and there are a few other venues here as well. There is also Security here with a staffed office. An Art building. And hosts other events throughout the year.
There's outside basketball courts, a skate park, a run/walk trail, a few pieces of exercise equipment, alot of trees (some Pine and Palm), LAPD Patrols, various grassy areas, drinking fountains and found all are shut off. It's a fair size park. There's also alot of squirrels and raccoons running around, and some birds try to steal from the ducks.
The park's shape is in a "V", and sits in between Valley Blvd and Mission Rd, and becomes a little noisy with all the traffic in the AM and PM. There's very limited parking at the Music/Art building (Mission side at Lincoln Park Ave) on the South side of the street, at Mission and Selig St (next traffic light after Lincoln Park Ave) opposite a 7-11, and at the other building off of Valley Blvd past San Pablo St and before a bridge on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOther than this being one of Los Angeles's earliest park's, I see no reason to actually visit this place. With it's wide assortment of ducks throughout the park or the various oddballs or men-of-leisure that roam the grounds, you're kind of taking your life in your own hands if you'll actually make it back safe to your car after a nice stroll through the park. And what's up with these toilets, I'd liken them to as something you'd find if you had to use the toilet in hell, always clogged with feces and toilet paper and centuries of piss and vomit, which makes for a toxic like stew of some sort, which I found surprising I didn't add my own vomit to what was already there when i tried using these "toilets from hell" one morning. I'm sure visitors from early Los Angeles that made early trips here when the park was in its heyday would be surprised if they could time-travel back in time, from the dead, and see the state the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've gotten COVID-19 testing at this testing location 3 times now and have had a great experience every time. It's fairly easy to get an appointment online. The best time to book is in the evening or early in the morning.
The testing process, including waiting in line, usually takes 10-30 minutes. It's a no contact drive thru experience. To expedite the check in process, I usually write my first and last name and confirmation number on a sheet of paper that can be shown to any of the staff who are usually about 6-20 feet away. It definitely helps speed things up.
To complete the test they provide, you cough deeply 3 times into your elbow, swab your entire mouth for 20 seconds, seal your swap in a vial with stabilizing fluid, seal everything inside a ziplock bag and drop the bag a bin on your way out. Very straightforward and simple.
I feel totally safe throughout the process. I've tested negative 3 times so far!...
