My love for all things quilting was thoroughly satisfied by a visit to this incredible store - Sewing Arts. In an out of the way and off the beaten path neighborhood in LA stands a building with such an unassuming character that one questions am I in the right place?
Walking through the doors having been greeted by a sweet person that truly wanted to help you. Not just someone voicing what theyâre supposed to do from a script. Whose heart and soul really wanted to help with what you were looking for. It was quite refreshing to say the least.
The array of materials, notions, patterns, and, you guessed it quilting sewing machines - mind bobbling. I was overwhelmed with emotion knowing my all time desire to live in a library might be replaced by wanting to live in a quilting supply store.
The beauty of quilts on display, those being finished, as well as for sale was breathtaking! However, when I walked by the âclassroomâ I just wanted to sit in there and absorb the spirit of all the students that have sat in there with all of their hopes and dreams to turn a mere piece of fabric into a creation of art. I imagined myself in one of those seats at one of those tables and thought, âyes, I can do this as well!â
The creation I have in mind is so far out of my sewing abilities, right now. However, after absorbing every bit of energy I could inside the Sewing Arts building, with all of these incredible and helpful employees, there is a good chance I will achieve making the quilt of my dreams. Thank you, Sewing Arts, for the opportunity to quite possibly start and finish a...

they have clothing patterns from the grainline, paper cut, sally tomato, anila hooey. and they have bag hardware, jeans hardware, english paper piecing templates, patterns and supplies for that kind of thing.
they have quilt patterns from modern designers like then came june, pen and paper patterns, patchwork and poodles, juicy juice.
they have yardage, fat quarter bundles, layer cakes, etc, from all of the popular lines. on the edge of the shop, fabric is sorted by color to allow for easy fabric pulls for quilting projects.
thereâs a big classroom in the back and a large sewing machine demo area, and a long arm. theyâre well staffed and very fast when cutting and taking your pile of bolts, which is kinda rare for...
Read moreStop reading reviews and just go to this store. If LA had tons of quilting shops I still believe this store would rise above the competitors.
Endlessly helpful and patient staff. I often shop with a little one in tow and they are so kind to her and help me find what I need as quickly as possible.
Beautiful & thoughtfully curated selection. They have many options for solids, all the major players for prints, a bunch of new brands that I assume emerged during the pandemic, wovens, etc. really lovely selection.
They host the LAMQG meetings so there is a communal aspect that is really valuable to all quilters.
10/10 will shop here as often...
