The time I paid with Rewards points at this hotel vs. paying with a credit card, I was treated badly and given a room underneath the stairs, by the front door. I did not get to sleep. All you can hear and feel is stomping all day and night from people running up and down the stairs and the front door slamming throughout day and night, when I complained to management their response basically was what do you expect you paid with rewards points??? Celeste gave me the choice of 2 rooms which both were located underneath the stairs by the front door. Fred in management did not care, he lied to customer service after I complained and said he offered me points and that I did not take them?? If I would have been offered points why wouldn’t I take them? Makes no sense. this hotel’s management does not practice integrity. With that being said, this hotel is Way Over priced for an old apartment building that was clearly renovated and turned into a hotel. They charge for parking which Parking is terrible, the spaces are small so if you have an SUV forget it. customer service discriminates if you pay with rewards points, specially Celeste that checks people in the day time, Fred is a complete fake, he pretends to be nice but doesn’t really care about your issue if you have one he will blow you off and lies to customer relations. Overall I do not recommend staying at this over priced apartment building turned into a hotel more so because of the terrible customer service. You can get a room at the Best Western Sunset Plaza Hotel for a lower price with comfy better rooms at an even better location in the city. In response to the Hotel’s response below Reservations was made because I was desperate and couldn’t find any other property available at the time the reservations were made, I did call to cancel and was told that they were unable to cancel and to call back in the morning when the manager was available. thinking about how bad the last experience was thankfully I ended up finding a better place after all at the last minute. Additionally, hotel management should be aware that the way credit cards and security are set up these days you can’t just charge someone credit card when you want to regardless, specially if the credit card is attached to the gps location of the guest cell phone. If the credit card holder and their cell phone attached to the credit card’s security is not physically present when the card is being charged the charges will decline and prompt the card holder of fraud. Also, please note, I was invited via email by Best Western to Post my experience. Just to be clear, I never once asked for a “free room” I asked them to give me my points back since they had such a problem with me paying with reward points. Perhaps management should stay in that exact same room I stayed in on a fully booked night, this way they can feel and understand what I experienced instead of...
Read moreWish there was a zero out of five rating. Terrible place and manager. I was in LA for a medical spinal procedure for our son and the Best Western Royal Palace and Inn was the only option available due to proximity to the surgery center, since most hotels were booked for graduation week. I was given a ground floor room because they have no elevators. I complained three times of the extreme humidity to the point that I was lowering the AC to 62 degrees to offset the humidity and asked to be moved three times with no success. They even refused to get the manager on the phone since he was the only one authorized to move me to a different room. On the third night I went back to the hotel and there was a severe caustic odor in the room - the front desk lady helped me open the window and said to sleep with it opened. Couldn't because it was ground floor un-gated hotel and was unable to sleep despite wrapping my face with a scarf. There was no where for me to go after midnight. I went looking for the manager Fred the next morning and after I showed him to the room, he was equally shocked to the intensity of the odor and the humidity. He paused for a few moments before figuring out what happened. He admitted that on the day of my check-in, the room carpeting was shampoo'd, the contractor left it to dry without suction or vacuum because he was in a hurry, then housekeeping treated the room heavily with Lyson when I complained of the humidity to avoid mold. After offering to move me to a suite, to which I refused, he then charged me the three nights (originally I was going to stay five nights) and begged me in a disgusting way not to post a negative review. I told him I shouldn't even have to pay for anything but he said he was doing me a favor by only charging me for three of the five nights. I ended up suffering a chemical pneumonia - per the California Poison Control Center for excessive Lysol exposure - and was treated back home. He modified my charges to a higher bill amount a couple of weeks after I...
Read moreI lived in the area for 32 years - a few blocks away. I have stayed here many many times - and put up relatives and friends there many more times. ( I now live north of Seattle - but still come back to stay here often)
The location cannot be beat for easy access to anywhere in LA you might want to go. (both the 405 and 10 Freeways are minutes away) The new Expo Line - can take you across town if there is traffic- and link up with all the other rails. You could walk a block - and go all the way to Disneyland if you wanted to. (with just a short Uber or Lyft ride)
The Staff is uniformly great - ( with a friendly sense of humor) accommodating, on top of everything.
This trip - they were wonderful - in that they let me have an available room - way way early. (rather than the normal 3pm) Such a boon for this trip to be able to get some rest before going out to an appt later. This was granted over the phone - and when I showed up the desk person knew the deal and was on top of it. (unlike a larger hotel where the message may have gotten lost)
The breakfast layout is splendid - and Euro visitors will appreciate that meats and cheeses are offered along with plenty of eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns etc - + cereals, bread etc etc
The Valets do a great job - dealing with the ever increasing lack of parking space in the area.
A much much better place to stay than at a larger - (more expensive) hotel. They used to be sort of a secret place -- and my only worry is that - they are not secret anymore -- and it may be harder in the future to find a vacancy here. (but that is only a small complaint from my own selfish POV) -
For the LOCATION / Service / Amenities / and a price considerably less than you might pay at larger LA hotels - this is a...
