***BEDBUGS!!!. I stayed here for 7 days while recovering from a surgery. On the second day I woke up to 2 bed bugs crawling over my pillow. I called the front desk and advised them of this. Showed them pictures of them as I killed 2. They moved me to another room and advised me after inspecting the room that they did not find any bugs. Considering I was staying/recovering by myself, I was shocked in disbelief as they thought I had planted the bugs? I had pictures that were time stamped of the bugs. Spoke to the manager and I asked him for a refund for some of the nites considering the horrible state I was in as it was only my second recovery day. They refused to do so. I notified the surgery centre of this, to ensure they would not recommend their future patients to stay here. DO NOT STAY HERE. 11/16/2024 : to the hotels recent response on this post/review. I just added several pictures of the hotel bill & business card with the managers name on the back (see attached pictures). Nice try. Once again deflecting. I did stay with you. You never took ownership of it then, and you still have not. Shame on you. Especially when I was recovering from surgery and could barely walk. I told you that I would post a review and I guess you didn’t take it seriously. You might want to delete your recent reply because I am in fact, in your system. ****TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. DO NOT STAY HERE.******

Ever wonder what an apartment conversion to two star hotel chain looks like? Have a stop here! This place serves as a reminder why theres no more affordable apartments in the area — sold out as conversions and new places demand top dollar. For me this was a necessary stay to avoid morning traffic from OC to WLA. Coupled with an awesome Priceline rate, I’m okay with what I’m getting. The lady at the desk was awesome (the 3 stars for the lackluster cooled room) and offered a mere $11 for parking - bargain 2! So I parked the car and found my unit — upstairs. Hmm. No elevator. I can manage. However the doors were narrow and the place reminded me of older West Los Angeles apartments of 1960. Inside the little air box was trying to cool the room to 68F but someone had left the drapes open. Closing them helps a little. A mini-split would be awesome right now. The room itself was an old studio apartment in an L-shape with a decent sized bathroom. However, there was something plateauing inversely in the ceiling (should I poke it with a stick?). Also, there were no modern USB outlets and I had forgotten a charging cube. Luckily the TV had a USB port and as long as the TV is on, you should get a charge. I have yet to go to bed but it’s still warm in here — feels about 78F. If I have to do this again, hopefully Priceline will randomly select a different place.

This was a great find.. came to hangout in Santa Monica for the day and decided to stay the night and head home in the morning. We are Best Western Rewards members and enjoy the overall service and value of BW... The value is great for what you get. We stayed in the King Suite... Clean, very comfortable and quiet.. Bath Room of all things to rate was way beyond expectation... Shower with separate jacuzzi bathtub and is more than spacious... nice after a long day of running around... Kevin the front desk personnel had a great attitude and was generous and kind. I noted him assisting an elderly guest and treated her as if she were family. It is because of these reasons we will remain loyal BW rewards members... I generally don't give 5 star reviews as my attitude is you can always do better... However Kevin's extra mile service deserves more than just a 5 star review... I look forward to returning as there is so many activities to do in the area that warrant more than an overnight stay.. oh I forgot to mention the room came with a small balcony and had a peaceful ambiance... also this is walking distance to public transportation with a Metro station not even a 2 minute walk away...

The time I paid with Rewards points at this hotel vs. paying with a credit card, I was treated badly and given a room underneath the stairs, by the front door. I did not get to sleep. All you can hear and feel is stomping all day and night from people running up and down the stairs and the front door slamming throughout day and night, when I complained to management their response basically was what do you expect you paid with rewards points??? Celeste gave me the choice of 2 rooms which both were located underneath the stairs by the front door. Fred in management did not care, he lied to customer service after I complained and said he offered me points and that I did not take them?? If I would have been offered points why wouldn’t I take them? Makes no sense. this hotel’s management does not practice integrity. With that being said, this hotel is Way Over priced for an old apartment building that was clearly renovated and turned into a hotel. They charge for parking which Parking is terrible, the spaces are small so if you have an SUV forget it. customer service discriminates if you pay with rewards points, specially Celeste that checks people in the day time, Fred is a complete fake, he pretends to be nice but doesn’t really care about your issue if you have one he will blow you off and lies to customer relations. Overall I do not recommend staying at this over priced apartment building turned into a hotel more so because of the terrible customer service. You can get a room at the Best Western Sunset Plaza Hotel for a lower price with comfy better rooms at an even better location in the city. In response to the Hotel’s response below Reservations was made because I was desperate and couldn’t find any other property available at the time the reservations were made, I did call to cancel and was told that they were unable to cancel and to call back in the morning when the manager was available. thinking about how bad the last experience was thankfully I ended up finding a better place after all at the last minute. Additionally, hotel management should be aware that the way credit cards and security are set up these days you can’t just charge someone credit card when you want to regardless, specially if the credit card is attached to the gps location of the guest cell phone. If the credit card holder and their cell phone attached to the credit card’s security is not physically present when the card is being charged the charges will decline and prompt the card holder of fraud. Also, please note, I was invited via email by Best Western to Post my experience. Just to be clear, I never once asked for a “free room” I asked them to give me my points back since they had such a problem with me paying with reward points. Perhaps management should stay in that exact same room I stayed in on a fully booked night, this way they can feel and understand what I experienced instead of...

Wish there was a zero out of five rating. Terrible place and manager. I was in LA for a medical spinal procedure for our son and the Best Western Royal Palace and Inn was the only option available due to proximity to the surgery center, since most hotels were booked for graduation week. I was given a ground floor room because they have no elevators. I complained three times of the extreme humidity to the point that I was lowering the AC to 62 degrees to offset the humidity and asked to be moved three times with no success. They even refused to get the manager on the phone since he was the only one authorized to move me to a different room. On the third night I went back to the hotel and there was a severe caustic odor in the room - the front desk lady helped me open the window and said to sleep with it opened. Couldn't because it was ground floor un-gated hotel and was unable to sleep despite wrapping my face with a scarf. There was no where for me to go after midnight. I went looking for the manager Fred the next morning and after I showed him to the room, he was equally shocked to the intensity of the odor and the humidity. He paused for a few moments before figuring out what happened. He admitted that on the day of my check-in, the room carpeting was shampoo'd, the contractor left it to dry without suction or vacuum because he was in a hurry, then housekeeping treated the room heavily with Lyson when I complained of the humidity to avoid mold. After offering to move me to a suite, to which I refused, he then charged me the three nights (originally I was going to stay five nights) and begged me in a disgusting way not to post a negative review. I told him I shouldn't even have to pay for anything but he said he was doing me a favor by only charging me for three of the five nights. I ended up suffering a chemical pneumonia - per the California Poison Control Center for excessive Lysol exposure - and was treated back home. He modified my charges to a higher bill amount a couple of weeks after I...

I lived in the area for 32 years - a few blocks away. I have stayed here many many times - and put up relatives and friends there many more times. ( I now live north of Seattle - but still come back to stay here often)

The location cannot be beat for easy access to anywhere in LA you might want to go. (both the 405 and 10 Freeways are minutes away) The new Expo Line - can take you across town if there is traffic- and link up with all the other rails. You could walk a block - and go all the way to Disneyland if you wanted to. (with just a short Uber or Lyft ride)

The Staff is uniformly great - ( with a friendly sense of humor) accommodating, on top of everything.

This trip - they were wonderful - in that they let me have an available room - way way early. (rather than the normal 3pm) Such a boon for this trip to be able to get some rest before going out to an appt later. This was granted over the phone - and when I showed up the desk person knew the deal and was on top of it. (unlike a larger hotel where the message may have gotten lost)

The breakfast layout is splendid - and Euro visitors will appreciate that meats and cheeses are offered along with plenty of eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns etc - + cereals, bread etc etc

The Valets do a great job - dealing with the ever increasing lack of parking space in the area.

A much much better place to stay than at a larger - (more expensive) hotel. They used to be sort of a secret place -- and my only worry is that - they are not secret anymore -- and it may be harder in the future to find a vacancy here. (but that is only a small complaint from my own selfish POV) -

For the LOCATION / Service / Amenities / and a price considerably less than you might pay at larger LA hotels - this is a...
