We and several other customers waited outside for almost twenty minutes past the posted opening time because the two employees working at the store didn’t show up until 6 minutes before the store was meant to open and then apparently had a lot to set up. Fine, understandable. People run late. It happens. However, rather than coming out to say “Oh, it’ll just be a moment…” they pointedly ignored us the entire time. One customer called headquarters to ask about the delay and was told that HQ called the location multiple times but nobody answered.
At checkout, my friend and I were each asked if we’d like to donate to Spirit of Children. We both declined. They rounded each of our totals up regardless, costing me an extra 89 cents and my friend 70-something cents. When we questioned the extra charges, the employee just kept mumbling and refusing to explain or remove the additional charge. I strongly suspect that if we try to return the items the “donations” will not be refundable. Just under two dollars isn’t a massive hit between the two of us, but, judging by the dozen people waiting to get in at opening, the better part of a dollar for each customer adds up quickly, and Spirit is likely making a killing off this series of petty thefts.
