I learned from some amazing acting teachers during my time in NYC, so when I moved back to LA, I took my time to find the right teacher to nurture my creative growth - and it was Desean at LAS. I loved the way he talked about the craft at the free audit. I was lucky enough to work then, so I got to experience 1) how sharp he was, and 2) how much care he puts into his notes. His adjustments aren't criticisms; and he always seems to know how to use an exercise to guide you further, so you can experience your unique way to approach "a goal" rather than telling you put on that goal.
So that Creative Lab, I know...you just want to work, right? This isn't specifically an Adler, Meisner, Hagen, Strasberg, etc.-led studio, the LAS approach reflects Desean's distillation of his experience (of the Julliard and the credentials and the credits) and his mind of an acting-nerd (his words!). For those who know, what Patsy Rodenburg expounds plays a large role. So truly, regardless of your your experience, you will benefit from the Lab.
I started with the Audition/On Camera, but Scene Study really shines. It's so lovely to see the level of work put up weekly, and seeing the people who are in it with me to create this creative, safe, and supportive space grow weekly - it's inspiring. As for me...I don't know how to tell another person all the different discoveries on the road to growth I've had in this past less-than-a-year into words...I'm just...a better actor now.
I love the workshops that are open to the students. There's a conversation with Patsy Rodenburg (seriously, look her up!) by Desean that's coming up that I'm super amped about. There's also ones with CDs, agents, and managers.

I’ve taken classes at the best acting studios in both Toronto and LA. I also have a two year professional conservatory training. I’ve had amazing teachers, yet I kept on wandering, for years. Most studios shine their lights on famous alumni or fancy coaches. Selling their technique and their accolades - creating this secret “groupie ambition” and unhealthy need to be validated by someone who’s committed to their own technique and transactional teaching.
Desean doesn’t impose, he inspires discovery and is a talented chameleon with all of us. I thought I’d mastered chameleon until I met Desean - he can access all colours just to find the right paint mix for us. I dreamed of a teacher who would work with me, not for me. We win together, we grow together, we have fun together. I’ve never seen a whole class constantly grow in such a short small of time. That’s what you get by elevating our individuality, honouring it by figuring us out and making us all shine. This studio is on a higher frequency, and I truly believe they want all humans to vibe higher together.
Y’all have my respect, my loyalty and my heart. For real.

Read moreI’ve been attending Desean’s studio for several months now, and having experienced many studios throughout Los Angeles, I can confidently say his is the best. His ability to provide feedback tailored to each student’s individual growth is unlike any other teacher I’ve worked with.
As someone who trained at a well-respected acting conservatory myself, I deeply appreciate Desean’s Juilliard training and how his approach echoes the rigor and depth I remember from my Carnegie days—minus the pretense. He’s created a conservatory-level class that remains accessible to students from all backgrounds. This hybrid style is what sets him apart and makes him a rare gem in the Los Angeles acting landscape.
His studio also offers showcase nights, masterclasses, and insightful conversations with legends like Patsy Rodenburg. This range of opportunities reflects his genuine commitment to helping his students succeed in a very difficult industry.
