Z Pastabar - DTLA — Restaurant in Los Angeles

The dish I ordered had a lot of potential, but:

-it was less than half the amount of pasta I was expecting for the price

-it had about 5x too much salt. SO salty. I kept wavering between "this is DELISCIOUS", and "damn...should I put water in this?"

I ended up eating most of it on the garlic bread to tone down the salt.

It was delicious, aside from that. I ordered penne with garlic, basil, and mushroom cream sauce (or whatever). Perfect flavors together, aside from the salt...which...I know I've mentioned several times but damn! It was a lot!

If the portion had been an actual adult-sized portion, I'd definitely give this place another chance because it was...

I should have listened to the reviews and not given this place a chance. Super dry no sauce spaghetti with 2 tiny store bought "meatballs" and a piece of dry bread. I literally took a bite of the pasta, the bread, and one meatball then threw the whole thing in the trash. It was the single worst italian dish ive ever tried in my entire life and im including banquet tv dinners in that list. Horrible Also who the heck garnishs a spaghetti and meatballs with green onions? Did a child plate this? "OH this is green, I think...

The flatbread isn't bad, but it's undercooked and floppy. Its also very small for the price they charge.

The mac and cheese, though, is just plain terrible! They give you a good portion, but it's literally just cooked macaroni noodles with the smallest smattering of cheese on top! It's not in any kind of sauce, cheese, or otherwise.

Seriously, save your money and get one of those store microwave mac and cheeses and have yourself a much better and...
