I went in to Erewhon here at The Shops to buy ingredients for dinner and it was a great experience! The staff and cashiers were SO friendly and helpful, I ended up buying a yearly membership for the savings, knowing I'd be back soon, and was stoked to find they carried my favorite ethical candy brand.
Upon leaving, I learned I made a mistake in my parking, and had not one, but two different parking attendants yell at me about my vehicle in the most unprofessional way. I owned my mistake and apologized several times to the first attendant but was stopped along the way to the exit for another employee to berate me about the same issue (the tone of anger made it hard to understand them they were obviously stressed out).
When I arrived, there were at least 4 lot employees, no one had let me know about the procedures in parking while I left my car, I figured I was fine, and I also remember thinking "Wow, a lot of staff, this must be a safe and efficient lot".
A lot of bad reviews for this place are about the price of parking. Chances are if you're buying a $15 smoothie, you can afford to pay the $40 for being careless about losing your ticket. They have the same policy at downtown Disneyland. There are signs about it I believe.
I didn't lose my ticket, but I would have rather paid a $40 fine than left feeling like I was verbally assaulted.
As a woman shopping alone, safe spaces mean A LOT to me and unfortunately, I'm not able to recommend The Shops to my friends.
Thankfully Erewhon has their own app now for delivery, so I'll recommend that instead. I can't speak for the rest of the shops since I...
Read moreThe Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge has quickly become one of my favorite neighborhood destinations. It strikes that rare balance of being both highly curated and genuinely useful. Anchoring it all is Sauce, which delivers food that is consistently excellent and perfectly suited to the California lifestyle. Right next door you’ve got UOVO with some of the best fresh pasta in town, Civil Coffee for when you want your espresso dialed in just right, and Salt Optics for eyewear that feels like a discovery rather than a purchase. Next Health brings a wellness angle that gives the whole complex an edge, and of course Ivan is there with his signature style.
What makes this center work so well is the variety. You can grab a workout at Equinox, a bite at Sweetgreen or Tocaya, and still wander into shops like Fred Segal or Roberta Roller Rabbit for a little retail therapy. The outdoor design creates a relaxed but elevated atmosphere, making it as good for a quick errand as it is for a long lunch with friends. Unlike so many shopping centers, it has a sense of place. It feels like a modern version of a village square, and that’s a hard thing...
Read morePARKING IS $39 IF YOU LOST YOUR TICKET. TOTAL SCAM.
I understand turning a profit, but this is absurd highway robbery. After driving across the country I was exhausted, absent-mindedly set aside the receipt somewhere while getting ice cream at Van leeuwen.
One would think that me requesting them to review video, or provide receipts showing that I was well below the free 90 minutes of parking that someone could allow me to get out of the parking lot... Management was of no help and the poor workers agreed that it wasn't fair I was forced to be charged $39 before I could exit.
Shame on this establishment I'll never be returning again for the sake of principal. And nominal fee for yes my mistake of misplacing my parking receipt, something in the range of let's say $10 perhaps, which still is absurd for parking structures to be charging to begin with but I digress... $39... Seriously?...
