i like supporting independent places and this was one place i saw when i was in the revamped sportsmen's lodge location. i liked that they had a variety of stuff on their menu plus coffee and pastries and such. the location is nice and clean.
i just had regular colombian drip coffee. it only comes in one size, 12 oz. not really a fan of that, but fine. wish they had more than one size. i also wish they had a dark roast, but they don't offer it (at least, not this morning).
the menu looked promising, and they have a lot of variety. i wasn't hungry so i just had their 1000 layer potatoes, which were honestly kinda underwhelming. $8 is fine, but they just didn't have much flavor and they seemed kinda old/lukewarm. i get trying to serve lots of people, though, so i understand how this could happen. their menu is kinda diverse so i can see them getting behind on certain things.
the only other thing i would say is that the layout is pretty ergonomically deficient. the line for people is slow and awkward and they need to work that out.
once they do, i think things will be much better. it has promise, but today was just kinda...
Read moreI went this afternoon to try their coffee. As I walked in, there store was empty and there were two employees at the counter and they gave me no greeting only just a cold stare. I slowly walked up to the counter and the employee taking my order still hadn’t said a word. I was pretty uncomfortable and felt like I didn’t belong here but I finally broke the silence and just placed my order.
When they called my name for my order I noticed that a drink was missing which I told the employee and she seemed annoyed that she had to make another drink. She then asked if I wanted a carrying tray for all my drinks and when I said yes please, she made no attempt to get one until a few seconds later. She just gave me my drinks silently and I walked away.
Overall, I felt like I was out of place at this establishment. I felt like my presence there was very unwelcoming The only reason why I rated this place 2 stars was because the coffee was good but the service was terrible. I will never come back here again and will probably visit other...
Read moreWhat else can I say. Civil coffee has cemented Itself as my daily breakfast spot. And my favorite coffee shop as well. My favorite drink is the vanilla Oaty latte, which get me pumped for the gym especially with the black salt it’s topped with.
I go for the protein breakfast with chilaquiles, definitely the best chilaquiles in la. The convenience of this place being a block from my house and in the same shopping center as my gym has made this place the best in my book. 10/10 also can get breakfast til about 2 pm which is mandatory in la. Not to Mention the quality of eggs they use, and they do NOT burn the...
