Deep in Atwater Village you'll find this 82 year old neighborhood staple tucked in between the areas unique houses and an elementary school. The market sells your usual wares, but all the way to the back of the shop is a deli where pretty much everything is under $5. There's a menu of house specials and you can also customize you're own. The quality of the meat and cheese's is nothing special, but for $3.50 I got a simple, nostalgic and filling sandwich. There's very few places in LA you can still find something like that, so it does feel like you're taking a step back in time. I have been coming here since the early 90’s. I used to take my lunch money and buy a ham and cheese sandwich and chips for lunch here before school started. I can honestly say I can only review the ham and cheese sandwich which has been my go to for about 30 years. I will usually add avocado to really make the sandwich shine even more. The addition of two salty pickles to the sandwich give it a most satisfying crunch and bite. The sandwich bread is always fresh. This place is is pretty good except for one thing and that one thing is that this store is in front of a freaking school so kids always go there and a lot of those kids are just so rude and foul mouthed that its ruined the store for me also it feels like no matter what time I go to the store even at school hours or at late at night there are a goup of foul mouthed trouble makers at the store that just make want to go to...
