Went in with 3 bridesmaid dresses to be altered. We were told that I could pick them up in two weeks. The Friday I'm supposed to be them up he says he needs a few more days and asks if I can pick them up Monday, which is 4 DAYS before my wedding which he knew. 2 dresses were to be taken in and 1 to be let out. He charged us about $240 dollars which was more than the cost of the dresses themselves. Once I got past the price however and my girls tried them on, one dress we were charged for them to take in the straps and they only did one. So one was slightly still loose and the other was noticeably 3 inches longer and falling off. He had also neglected to take in the cup as requested. This was found out on Monday and the wedding was Friday. So we took it back and he stated that he couldn't take in the cup because it would mess up the dress. Now it's a bridesmaid dress, which tends to be simply made, I don't see how that would be an issue, and he should have told me when I brought them in. He said he would have the straps fixed by the next day. Unfortunately I wasn't in town so I had my grandmother pick it up and my bridesmaid wouldn't be able to try it on until the wedding day. Friday arrives and when she's putting it on, we notice that they have sewed the straps on BACKWARDS. So now they do not lie flat and are twisted around. There are also strange black marks running through all 3 dresses that weren't there when we had dropped them off. This is probably due to the fact that the shop is a WRECK. they have everyone's stuff in piles lying all over the store and I have seen restaurant kitchens kept cleaner.
I would not use them unless you want poor quality, customer service, and to be charged an arm and a leg. Because apparently they charge $25 to shorten a spaghetti strap and they can't even...
Read moreAce Custom Tailors has won a customer for life. I got a suit for the first time ever and had no idea how it was supposed to fit, nor had I ever gotten anything tailored before. This was all uncharted territory for me. I am a plus size woman which means fit is always a challenge. I got there and tried it on, he had me stand on a raised platform while he pinched things in and asked if I liked it, made his marks and that was it. I asked for (and got) a cost estimate and was told to pick it up two weeks later. When I came to pick it up, he had me try it on and good thing I did because while my jacket was perfect, my skirt had something wonky going on on the side seams. I showed him the problem and he said he could have it fixed in 20 minutes. I tried in on again and it was perfect. I love my suit, it fits me like a glove now! The shop is clean and tidy, the owner is very professional and light hearted. You can expect to wait a little if there is another customer in the shop because he gives each person his full attention while he is working with them, which I think is wonderful. I will absolutely be back next time I need something tailored...which might be pretty soon because, again, as a plus size women, nothing ever fits and I might...
Read moreFour weeks out from my wedding and everything was planned and payed for- except my suit. My mother-in-law swore up and down that I’d be up there in a tuxedo t-shirt. Harry got me in for an initial consultation/measurement where I brought some inspiration pictures of the suit I had in mind and we spent some time flipping through his library of fabric samples. He helped me select material that was in my budget and weather appropriate (Important as I was getting married in the Texas hill country). We had a single fitting and two weeks later I picked up my suit, two shirts for myself, one for my father, and a pair of altered pants for our dress rehearsal.
While I don’t recommend waiting that late in the game to get a suit made, nor do I condone asking such a talented team to rush work like this, I cannot stress enough how awesome of an experience it was getting this suit made and how lucky I was to have a man as patient and kind as Harry making it all happen.
As for the suit? Fit is perfect. Had I realized how comfortable a well tailored suit could be, I would have saved myself a lot of time and money shopping around at department stores...
