For women looking to purchase a bike: please be careful with who you do business with here. I came in with my boyfriend looking to try out some bikes. The staff at the front desk were very helpful, and were easy to talk to - hence the extra star. They should not have to deal with this negative review. However, there is one salesman here that was very out of line with how he talked to me and dealt with me as a potential customer. I did not get his name, but he has lighter red-headed features with facial hair and may potentially be a manager of the store. I have never before been made to feel uncomfortable in fitting myself for a bike as I unfortunately had been at this shop. The man helping me made remarks and "guesses" about my body type and shape to my face... even going to the extent in verbally assuming that I "had not had children yet" since parts of your lower body may change once you do and that parts of the bike may fit differently. It got to the point of him telling me to lift my sweatshirt up a bit so he could touch me in front of my boyfriend around my hips (without asking first if it was alright to do so) to see how aligned I was to the bike seat before I test rode one of their models. I am not one to complain much about this kind of thing, but even my boyfriend was surprised at how uncomfortable of a situation this man was creating. The information on bikes he was trying to advise me on was not fundamentally out of line, but the way he talked to me and delivered his advice definitely was. I really hope this salesperson does not do this to all of his female customers, and that he treats them with more dignity and respect than he did to me. The other men there assisting my boyfriend were very knowledgeable and kind, so buyer beware to women out there looking at this shop (not to be confused with the other store "Middletown Cycling," which I have been to and have had great service from). Be careful to which salesperson you deal with, as one of them seems to not know how to kindly deal with female customers and make them feel like a...
Read moreIt all started a long time ago when I bought my first mountain bike from Middletown cycling in 2017, it was a giant Trance. Ross may have been my first point of contact, but Nira was the one person I delt with mostly. I was so impressed in working with her that I later bought an Anthem and a TCX from her later. When I heard that she was running Middle of Town cycling, I was not hesitant to continue working with her and the staff that she picked to operate her store. I later bought another Anthem Advanced Pro and a BMC Teammachine (5 bikes in total)
The first time I walked through the doors I was warmly greeted by multiple staff members who were eager to assist me. I often hear of people walking into a shop, ready to buy a bike, and cant even get a hello. This was not the case. Middle of Town cycling brings more to the table than you would expect from a local bike shop and offer something an online store cant, a personal experience that feels tailored to the individual customer.
I don't even live in Louisville, I have found that Middle of Town cycling has always been willing to help me out where they can, even if I didn't buy a part from them and their genuine attention to detail is unparallel. The staff has always been transparent with me when/ if something goes wrong and they have always worked with me to find a mutual solution if/when any problems were to arise. If you order and work with a company enough, something is eventually going to go wrong, especially in retail.
Overall I have always been more than happy with the service that I have received from Nira and her her staff at Middle of Town cycling. I even recommend the shop to all of my friends who have been equally impressed. I look forward to continuing to do business with the shop and will continue to refer my friends to them for their...

Nira is such a pleasure to talk to and is genuinely interested in meeting all of your cycling needs. She has gone out of her way to make sure I’ve had everything I needed for my races or other cycling adventures. Was recently in for a well deserved wheel upgrade. My new Boyds do not disappoint! I see a few KOMs in my near future. 👑
Richard is the man too! He can fix literally anything you throw at him. Oh, your TT bike has a special brake caliper that seized up? My man literally took it apart and made it work just like new. He is incredibly knowledgable and great to hang out with. I also hear he wraps the best bar tape in town. Just sayin’.
The rest of the staff is great too! I can go on, and on. Love this shop and the people there! If you’re visiting and need a pre-ride repair or tune up, this is your shop. If you’re new to town (or even cycling) and want a shop that greets you like you’re one of the gang when you walk in, this is your shop. If you’re a LouCity native and just need an affordable and trustworthy shop you can rely on, you guessed it, Middle of Town is YOUR shop!
Oh, and have you seen their kits?! 🔥 Great...
