My wife worked with Sound Factory recently to replace her factory stereo that had failed and had a very positive experience. My Honda Element still had the original factory speakers and some of them were starting to go bad, so I thought I'd stop in and see what options are available. I was greeted quickly by Paul and he patiently walked me through what options were available. I've never had a car with a great sound system, so we talked about ways that I could really bump up my sound and stay affordable. I ended up getting all new speakers and a new video head unit and we setup a time for the install. Paul promised to let me know when the order was placed (which he did) and to let me know when the parts arrived (which he also did). I dropped the truck off and Paul gave me a ride so I wouldn't have to sit in their showroom for the few hours they'd estimated it would take. Their time estimate for installing the new equipment was pretty spot on. I arrived back and took off in the truck - WOW, big difference in sound! ...And then it stopped working. The radio would turn on, I'd hear a slight pop and no sound would come out of the main cabin speakers, only out of the sub-woofer. I spoke with Paul and brought the truck back in. They had the issue figured out pretty quickly (a wiring short where it was grounding into the truck frame) and they made it right. The Element comes with a factory amp and so when we were talking about that, Paul mentioned that he has a low-power amp available that doesn't require a separate power feed that could boost volume even more for a reasonable price. I had them go ahead and add that and I now have the best sound I've ever had in one of my vehicles. Yes, there was a problem with the install, but for me just as important as any other factors I grade a business by is how that business responds to issues and Sound Factory couldn't have handled it any better. My experience as a customer was as good as any company I've worked with. I absolutely would go there again and would also recommend them to my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first time I had a stereo installed it went smoothly. I purchased the stereo online and had them install it for me. The install cost was overpriced but I try to support local businesses so I went with it. This time I had a stereo I needed installed so I went back to them and was upset when I got a call telling me they needed to trim the plastic panel around the stereo to fit it in and it was going to cost $50. I'm not stupid, it couldn't take more than 15 minutes to cut the panel and fit the radio in (its still not flush and is sticking out with metal exposed) and with their hourly rate for labor being $55 I felt like I was getting ripped off. I brought this up to Paul as I went to pay the invoice and he said "that is just what it costs because of our warranty and stuff". What kind of warranty are you going to give me on the 1/4" of plastic you trimmed off?? I paid it and decided to not go back there in the future but I didn't want to spend time writing a bad review. Then I got home and went to plug in my amplifier for my sub woofer which I paid them $75 to run the wires for. As I look for the ground wire I see it sitting there not attached to anything... This means I have to find a socket set and unbolt my drivers seat to attach the ground wire to or drill it into the frame with a sheet metal screw. That is why I am writing this review. If I'm paying top dollar for an installation it better be completely finished when I go to pick up my vehicle. Its a decent place but beware of the pricing and double check their work before you leave. - The first stereo they installed for me is also messing up and resetting ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOut if the three bug audio guys in Louisville, Sound Factory is hands down my favorite!! Everytime I visit I visit Paul, he has been there for several years and is as nice, knowledgeable, and patient as they come! I went there for my very first car install after being confused and (attempted) over charged at the other audio places! I went from complete novice to at least knowing what goes into every aspect of sound in a car! There was never any up selling, and they always do whatever they can to charge less then MRC on most things! I have done 3 installs so far here, and each time has blown me away customer service wise! A perfect example would be: I got a head unit installed and could use the existing cables from the speakers, Paul recommended that I get the better wiring to avoid lost watts to my speakers. Due to budget constraints I told him that I would have to settle for the existing wiring. At the end of the install he advised that he went ahead and installed the $70 wiring and 0ed it out on the invoice! It blows my mind completely that they are the cheapest in town and the absolute best aylt what they do! Keep...
