Flew into town from NYC to support my partner as he was participating in this years IronMan Triathlon. I will start off by saying the location is very convenient. It is within walking distance of an array of restaurants/ bars which is great. Also a cute walking distance to the downtown area. This being my very first time visiting Louisville (KY in general) I am glad I chose this hotel for my stay. The lobby, & common area was very nice and clean. The room we stayed in was great. The staff at the cafe to the right were very kind and always greeted us with a smile whenever we walked by which was appreciated. The front desk staff on the other hand... unfortunately not so much. I gave a 4 star rating for service SOLEY off the strength of the employee by the name of Shain. He was extremely nice, informative, and helpful with extending our stay an extra night (was suppose to fly out Monday but extended trip by a day to explore the city). We approached him with our inquiry and he was more than happy to help. Me being born and raised in Brooklyn NY, --NYC period I am used to people being rude (IYKYK). However, the other staff members at the front desk were simply rude just from being asked simple questions. I politely asked one front desk member (brown skin, natural hairstyle) if the market was closed (it was after 11pm and the lights were off so I wasn't sure) to which she gave me a look & rudely replied "no." It only got worse from there. chose the highroad, I heard people were nicer in the south, im not sure but that was strike one. Next day, we were heading out and went up to the desk to get the parking ticket validated (we were informed upon check in that it had to be validated each time we left garage) to which the manager Roberto gave me an attitude stating that there was no need, only to get to the gate outside and have a 3 car backup due to us not being able to get out. My partner called the front desk, Roberto answered, gave a brush off response and hung up. Called back and asked to speak to the one of the women at the desk because he hung up on us and instead of doing so, he decided to question why and stated that he was a manager. Strike two. After about 10 minutes, my partner (rightfully frustrated) decided to go inside and see what was going on. During this time while he went in, a woman with shoulder length locs and a septum piercing comes around from the rear of the parking garage arms folded, attitude on 1000. Me along with my partners family was trying to explain (very politely. keep in mind we should be FUMING as we were the ones being inconvenienced for a little over 10 minutes) what was going on, to which she just stood there with a dead pan face, arms crossed, and just stared at us while we kept scanning the ticket and it kept saying error. Strike three. I typically do not leave reviews but the way we were treated was just unacceptable. As a Hilton honors member I was disappointed. Based off other reviews people seem to have a good experience with the staff, maybe we just caught them on an off week. Service aside, the hotel was nice. However I may have to find somewhere else to stay my next visit...
Read moreI really wanted to like this hotel and the room itself was quite nice and well-designed. The place is new so it's very clean and their designer did a nice job particularly with the bathroom. Bathroom has a glass shower and the faucet controls on the wall as you enter the shower as opposed to under the shower head. Great design.||There were some real problems with the hotel however. There seems to only be an ice machine on the 2nd floor and it wasn't working during our stay there. Also, they don't provide bottled water but they do have filtered water dispensers on each floor. The filtered water dispenser on our floor wasn't working during our stay either. I did inform the front desk of this issue on the first day, they said they would send someone to fix it but it didn't get fixed. Perhaps they needed parts or something?||Also, my experience with the front desk was not very good. I like to tip housekeeping when they clean our room. I needed change for a $20 and I asked the front desk if they could provide me with change for a $20 so that I could tip housekeeping and the response was "we don't make small change but if you need to break a $100 bill we will change that into $20's. Otherwise, there are banks close by you can try there". What the heck? You would think they would want their guests to tip housekeeping and I've never stayed at a hotel that won't provide $5's and singles so you can do so. I don't know anyone who tips housekeeping $20/day for their room so this policy of only breaking big bills down to $20's is really strange and not helpful.||There was also a billing problem with my bill that I noticed prior to checkout. I explained it to the front desk staff and rather than just fixing it she wanted to debate it and lecture me on how their billing system works. I explained to her that I didn't want to argue but that it was clearly their mistake and rather then argue between the two of us it would probably be less stressful for both of us if I just talked with the duty manager. After I said that she agreed to fix it --It was such a simple, clear cut situation it's strange that she even wanted to debate it. She didn't appologize for the billing error and it was just some uneccessary morning stress.||So even though the room was nice and I wanted to like the hotel I didn't. ||The hotel is in the nulu neighborhood which is a transitional, regentrifying area. It's a short walk to downtown Louisville but if you're walking to/from the city and it's nightime you don't want to walk south of Jefferson street. I would recommend Uber/Lyft or if you must walk, maybe walk one street north before heading west into downtown. I'm no expert on Louiville but I travel a lot and I noticed some pretty sketchy looking things south of Jefferson and even on Jefferson where you cross under the highway bridge. We tried to avoid...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the Tempo by Hilton in Louisville and booked two rooms—one standard and one accessible. The experience was primarily a negative one.||Pros:|- The hotel has a very trendy, modern decor that makes a great first impression.|- The Hilton app is a big plus—easy to navigate and I really appreciate being able to select my room number in advance.|- Great location with convenient proximity to downtown attractions.|- The rooms were clean.||Cons:|Unfortunately, the accessible room fell significantly short of expectations, especially for someone who uses a wheelchair. The experience left me in tears and I would not recommend this hotel for solo wheelchair users at this time.|- The fridge in the accessible room was broken.|- The drapery rods are mounted too high for someone in a wheelchair to reach. The drapes are open at check-in, which means you need assistance just to close them and get privacy or block light for sleep.|- The desk area allows for a wheelchair to pull under, but the heavy chair in place was hard to move without help.|- The carpeting is on the thicker side, which adds resistance and makes navigation more difficult.|- The bathroom door was extremely heavy and nearly impossible to open or close independently from a seated position.|- While the sink was accessible, the placement of toiletries was backwards: body wash was at the sink, and hand soap was in the shower.|- In the shower, there were two shampoos and no conditioner, which I didn’t discover until I was already in the shower—very frustrating.|- The accessible bathtub setup was particularly disheartening. The shower controls and handheld shower head were placed at the front of the tub, while the bench was fixed at the back.|- There were so many grab bars in the bath/shower that there was no comfortable place to rest your back, as a bar was placed directly behind the bench. More is not always better.|- There was no spot to place the handheld shower head, and the hose was too short to reach the bench. I tried setting it on the bench, but it fell and sprayed everywhere.|- The water from the fixed shower head barely reached the bench so it wasn’t usable for me.|- The handheld shower head was damaged—it was missing a piece, causing water to spray from the handle itself.||Lastly, there is no direct access from the hotel to the parking garage, which added another layer of inconvenience.||Final Thoughts:|While the decor and app functionality are great, and the location is ideal, accessibility at this property needs serious reconsideration. The design choices seem made without input from actual wheelchair users. I genuinely hope the hotel takes this feedback to heart and makes changes, because the potential is there—but as it stands, this isn’t a comfortable or functional option for independent...
