I honestly wish I could give less stars for this location literally was in the emergency room. There’s no liaison inside. No one there to support the patients that’s in the rooms lady at the front desk with purple hair was very rude to everybody that was getting smart joking about what they therefore basically telling them that they’re lying and they’re over exaggerating . Left a lady in the er room with no socks on she clearly had some type of other condition going on maybe tics but she needed mental health guidance she clearly has anxiety when it comes to visiting hospitals, she was sitting there for hours waiting for her ride didn’t hear hospital Staff offering her a ride with a cab or calling Medicaid, transportation for her or some type of transportation for her to get home. Or simply talking to her to get a better understanding of her situation . There needs to be more education on the way we treat people . Me and my family was talked bad to this lady at the front desk and nurses was rolling their eyes had attitudes, the emergency room definitely needs to invest in a better system as far as rooms with doors etc because there were so many ppl built up in that super small space and some barley had on clothes and not covered up . Literally why wasn’t the lady in the lobby offered socks ? The hospital floors are some of the dirtiest floors she can easily catch an infection if not something worse from being bare foot . The lady who was there purple hair at the desk said to the rn/ nurse on staff to “ do whatever you want with her she’s discharged now she’s basically no my problem any more “ .. discharged or not she’s still your patients you should want to go above and beyond for every person you see . As a healthcare worker my self the behaviors and attitudes I witnessed would NEVER EVER EVER make me want to bring any of my family there . I get it everyone’s over whelmed probably tired and overworked but is that the patients fault ? No . They come to seek care and their families come to be comfort to them .im If anyone talked to that ladiy with the purple short hairs family the way her and other staff talked to me and my family she wouldn’t be happy . Check your attitude we are in a field of caring and communication and compassion that lacked all through that ER ! what happened to all the compassionate health care workers ? Then when I asked could I go back to see a family member when no one was back there she said to me “ let’s work on condensing the amount of visitors I just saw 15 of yall going to see him .” I said actually there’s only 4 of us out here and two are his children and one is his brother who is also a PATIENT waiting to be seen she assumed all the black people she came across were going to see him . Just a nasty attitude . Correct this ! No one wants to go somewhere , where people don’t care to just be more caring . Add liaisons and social workers in this er even behavioral health specialist . Some people have anxiety about hospitals and just need that support where is the...
Read moreReceived call my room was ready but when I got here no one seemed to know what procedure to follow. Nurse said doctor’s fault. Registration clerk said she didn’t know how long transportation would take so we walked to my room. Two nurses could not put in IV. Third nurse got it on second try. I’ve never had trouble before. Right arm restriction bracelet not available. Missed dinner. Was served dried out chicken tenders and cold fries. By the time Nurse got IV done I was delayed going for test until 11:30 pm. Transporter was worried because I didn’t have on hospital footies. He found a pair for me. Around 1:30 am I requested a snack. Aide, or nurse, brought individual graham cracker packets, half were open. 9/23 Nurse called my daughter for release for treatment. She was entered as guardian instead of emergency contact. It alarmed both of us. Water was not replenished. I thought drinking water was important after dye used during test? I was dropped from transportation schedule and was approximately one hour late for procedure. When I returned to room I was hooked up to monitor which kept beeping. Nurse showed me how to push button to shut it off. Is that the patient’s responsibility? It kept sounding. Nursing student told me it was because I held my hand too high and sensor probably sensed my hand was cold and mistook that for low oxygen. After shutting it off several times and after its sounding for 15 minutes without anyone checking on it I disconnected it and rolled it out in the hall. I could not cope with the noise and wondered why no one checked on me. I was hungry because I basically had nothing to eat since lunch the previous day at home. Nurse had orders changed and gave me two packs of crackers. Dietary came to my room and took dinner order. He was asked to bring me something to eat. He gave me a pack of Lays chips. I again requested food and nurse brought me leftover meals…..cold and horrible. Water from previous day was still in pitcher and I had to ask for fresh. Nurse said the two towers are short staffed. Shouldn’t they be closed? My bathroom was filthy when I as admitted. Fecal spots around toilet. I had to ask for toilet tissue which was not supplied until I called housekeeping supervisor. She instructed housekeeper to reclean room including replenishing toilet tissue. The bathroom floor was so dirty I had to wipe my feet off at my bedside after washing up. Supervisor said one of the spots was a stain. I suggested that wasn’t a sanitary look for the hospital. A major concern for me is not only the lack of cleanliness of the hospital and insufficient nursing care, but also the lack of communication. It lessens patient confidence and peace of mind. I have never witnessed such lack of professional patient care and lack of organization...
Read moreMy daughter spent about 3 weeks there. The best thing I can think of to say is at least they didn't kill her...there! But they released her today to a rehab that is an absolute dump! Reason why? Because they had Bariatric equipment. Right. That's why it took 3 beds to get a big enough one...and the wheelchair was for a 100 lb person, not a 450 lb one. Norton's gave her a third transfusion last night...2 pints...just to be sure her hemoglobin would be high enough to get rid of her! Does this rehab know to test it? No! She's been on oxygen during the day and cpap at night. This rehab doesn't even own a cpap and refuses to get one for my daughter without a sleep study!!! It wasn't until they checked her oxygen and it was at 80 that they even put that on her! They aren't even going to have a doctor look at her until Monday!!! My daughter is scared to even go to sleep tonight. They aren't going to keep a monitor on Tiffany tonight to be sure she's getting enough oxygen. Instead, they'll check it a few times during the night. If it happens to be low when they check, then they'll send her to the hospital. Right now, it would be a blessing for her to go!
Oh...and Tiffany's stay at Norton? I saw an X-ray tech be pissed off because Tiffany couldn't move to help get the x-ray under her back! And then the PT thought nothing of getting Tiffany up with her butt exposed to all in the hallway! They wouldn't go get a proper chair for her to sit in because they were inconveniently on the Bariatric wing so they brought her a porta pot to sit on instead! She's a diabetic and yet her tray contained sugar-laced deserts, juice, ensure and sugar packages. Their way of controlling diabetes is by giving a patient insulin! She never had to have insulin until THEY fed her the wrong foods! She went ~10 days with no food. Come to find out, no nutrition via IV either! She went from having trouble keeping ice chips down to being given: milk based, full sugar pudding, ensure (+20 g sugar), and corn chowder. You'd have to have seen this chowder to appreciate me saying how truly nasty it was. Tell me, who after throwing up can keep down dairy products or a chowder with chunks of corn and flour paste? I know I couldn't and yet she had a nurse jump her for not eating that starchy mess. As all diabetics know (and you'd think a hospital would too), starch turns into sugar...the one thing no diabetic should make angel of!
So not only did Norton not make sure Tiffany was taken care of when she left there but they are incompetent when it comes to obesity and diabetics! If I can help it NO family member of mine will ever go...
