I will never come to this hospital again. I was transferred here from St. Mary's bc supposedly I would be seeing specialists. The first dr that came to the er before I had been admitted to my room spent all of 30 seconds and barely glanced at the problem. He talked down to me and tried to make decisions without even an exam and I asked him to please leave. I have bruises and hard knots all over both arms from them digging needles around in my arm to draw blood. And then when I said my iv was burning and starting to redden and harden the nurse kept pushing the fluid thru. When i came out of surgery i had a busted lip. Idk what they hit me with or suctioned to hard but its swollen inside and out. After surgery I was in extreme pain and was told to push my button if I needed my nurse. After all 3 scheduled pain med times came and went I was laying here crying I called the nurse. Then after an hour and a half I had to call the nurse again before someone finally came another 20 minutes later. Busy or not I came here for a very serious issue and I have felt completely unimportant, ignored and frankly a little abused. None of this is ok. When people are in excruciating pain they are super vulnerable and shouldn't be treated so horrible. All I want is to go home. I would never suggest this hospital to anyone, in fact I will do my best to deter anyone from coming here.

If I could give them "zero" stars I would! DO NOT ADMIT YOURSELF HERE! Unless you want to lose your life or someone you love! My children's father was admitted for 72 hours while they "evaluated" him. He flat lined in their care and they never ran any test or asked about his family history. His father passed away from the exact diagnosis. Only if they asked him how his father died, he'd still be with us today. Only if they didn't deny him the proper care and did all they could, he'd still be alive. I will be boycotting October 3rd 5-7 at the E.R. bringing awareness and saving people's lives. If I can keep one human from checking in that'd be good enough for me. I'm currently consulting with lawyers about a malpractice suit. This was my best-friend, the love of my life, and most importantly the father to my youngest son's. He was the glue holding me together and now I'm trying to figure out how to stay together. Every day is a struggle, they really did a number. I'm going to make sure their held accountable for the trauma they have caused my family. R.I.H. MELVIN CLIFFORD WARE! We love you so much and miss you like crazy, I won't let up! Forever keeping your name #Alive UofL Hospital I'm coming for you!💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

If I could give no stars I would. On saterday January 8th 22 I suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Was taken by ambulance to UL because They told me that they had better experience and knowledge with burns as the have a burn center there. I agreed. Well after I was admitted into the er to be seen I saw The doctor once. I bearly saw my nurse. They told me they wanted to labs. This Nurse that proceeded to try to get labs from me Had trouble, AND SHE PROCESSED TO DOUBLE STICK ME WITH ONE NEEDLE, THE SAME NEEDLE SHE TRIED THE FIRST TIME AND THEN LAID IT ON MY BED. TOOK Q ALCOHOL WIPE TO CLEAN IT AND STUCK ME AGAIN. When she needed to restock me a 3rd time then did she decide to get a new needle. When the needle wasn't allowing flow of blood out because I don't have good veins, never had, she left me unattended while she went and got a new tube to put the blood in when that wasn't the problem. Not long after that I was discharged to go home to put basatracian ointment on my arm, Not Burn Cream. Now my arm hurts even more than it did before I went in and the blisters look worse. I will Never go there again. Not for anything and I recommend you don't either.

I had been to the emergency room many times and was always diagnosed and treated properly and felt I had the duty of care. That all changed around about two years ago when the duty of care changed to discrimination. I walked in the ER in no pain diagnosed in ER by an oral surgeon Woodling with an abscess, was not examined, no x-ray. According to medical records another doctor probably a resident doctor recommended an ultra sound be done to characterized the area under my chin it was never done. When woke from OR more teeth than consented was removed, put drains where they claim the abscess was suppose to drain but did not therefore the oral surgeons Kushner and Summers threaten to put a hole in my neck. Records state another doctor I guess a resident ordered a dissection of my neck nothing was ever found, throat multilated.Asked to go to a different hospital, sedated thrown in ICU, my family arrived they was bringing me from another surgery which I had no knowledge of nothing while sedated til I was told by family, friends, got medical records, when family asked what surgery did yah just do on her the question was never answered, family was told they had to put me in a seduced comma and not to return for three days, when asked why claim they could not find my chart and wait on doctors which never came at that time. Was kept sedated entire time I was there. Given unnecessary surgeries, treatments, given medication with out checking on interactions of meds, I found out later some of these meds should have been avoided could have died and given contrasts which I am allergic to with unnecessary 11x-rays and 3 ct scans continuously for 11 days which was charged to Medicare and had the nerves to send me bills. When regain consciousness tried to call for help phone was confiscated. My mouth, throat, tongue where mutilated, ICU nurse Gibson tortured me with a feeding tube and tried to pull a catheter out without deflating it when they was weaning me off anesthesia, Still having complications from this horrible nightmare. Since then threats have been made when I complained, details of my complaints have been passed out of retaliation so no other doctors will treat me properly, just last week 8/21/19 during one of my first visit to be treated for my bones I was threaten in the exam room with surgery if I came back saying I have the same symptoms, I guess they suppose to just disappear, you won't get another chance to threaten me. I recently got a primary care doctor after he viewed my medical records he ask about my surgeries pointed out I had a staph while an inpatient, (even after telling him I have been threaten he still put it in my file my 4/9/19 and put in on mychart. No regard to my or my families safety and put in my file I need counseling cause I ask to be treated for complications I am still having?) not informed of Staph and treatment was delayed when I regained consciousness from being sedated to having no IV's a few times and the staph spread therefore was there longer than necessary 15 days. Numbers from labs has rose over some visits, ask see a Kidney specialist first visit in March, after months of asking just got it, call to confirm appointment, ask did they receive the referral, when they said they got Urinalysis report from the office of the Urogynecology I'm like (what report?) I was told No Urinalysis was done, are they falsified results sent to the kidney specialist, Look like I need to contact Medicare or authorities. This confirms that if my complaint did not have merit this retaliation would not be happening. Nothing has been done and continuous threats, if anything should happen to anyone connected to me I want it documented that those associated with me medically should be held accountable.

This hospital definitely needs to be investigated. Treated really horrible. Please if you have a loved ones In this hospital Do Not Leave them alone especially at night or in ICU when no one can visit. There is so much more I can say, but for now Pray that the Hatred...

I had my first surgery at U of L with Dr. Resad Pasic, who calls himself an “endometriosis specialist.” He performed my TLH BSO while I was 26 years old this January. What I received was not specialized, correct, or compassionate care. Instead of proper excision of endometriosis (the current standard of care), he only ablated it (burned the surface). I was never informed before, during, or after surgery that this was his method of treatment. In fact, I was told that if any endometriosis were found during my hysterectomy, it would be excised. At my post-op visit, I was told it was excised, which I later learned—through confirmation from a second surgeon at Baptist—was completely false. Of course, as a patient, I had no idea what excision vs. ablation looked like in surgical photos, so I trusted him and his team.

When I continued to struggle with pain just two weeks after surgery, I was told it was “a normal part of healing” and even, “we do thousands of these surgeries a year, you may just be a special case and need longer to heal.” As both a patient and a medical professional, I was appalled by this dismissive, condescending treatment. I was never scheduled for an in-person follow-up and had to beg for one. Which during I was informed my pain was either “psychological” or I was sensitive to it…My experience with Dr. Pasic and his fellow, William Nolan, felt more, “chop shop” than true medical care. Considering the self-promotion and poor practice disguised as expertise.

The consequences were devastating. My pain never improved, and for the last nine months I have using a cane, unable to walk long distances, unable to travel long distances, and needed almost daily help with basic tasks at just 26 years old. Before surgery, I was weightlifting and working as a CNA. Afterward, I was disabled. On top of this, U of L’s pain management was inadequate from the start, leaving me suffering immediately after my operation. To make matters worse, despite being placed into a very premature surgical menopause, I was prescribed only a 0.01 mg patch of estrogen: the standard for women decades older than me and completely inappropriate for someone my age and harmful to my long-term health.

Nine months later, I had a true excision surgery at a much smaller local hospital with both a GYN and a general surgeon. The difference was night and day. The entire surgical team treated me with care and respect, walking me through every detail before surgery. Both surgeons saw me before and after the procedure. They excised a large amount of endometriosis that Dr. Pasic had left behind. Post-op, my pain was virtually nonexistent: I was walking the same day, and now at three days post-op I have not needed a single narcotic, only Tylenol and ibuprofen Q2. That contrast speaks for itself.

⚠️ Warning: If you are a woman—especially a woman of color—steer clear of this hospital and this physician. Dr. Pasic even maintains his own personal website to promote himself, but my experience (along with those of countless other women) shows how little true expertise he has. Bigger medical centers do not always mean better care. In this case, U of L failed...

Unless you need to be brought in on a stretcher with a life threatening illness, avoid this hospital. I called several hospitals in the state asking for a specific kind of specialty doctor for my needs and for something urgent and out of the scope of what an urgent care clinic can help with. I was left disappointed. I finally called here to this location and the receptionist said they had on on duty doctor I needed for the issue that had been bothering me for too long. We were out the door for the hour drive within seconds after hanging up the phone.

Upon arrival, the receptionist (different from whom I spoke with over the phone) seemed like she’d had enough of her day and wasn’t looking forward to signing myself in as a new patient. Myself and my partner sat down and waited about 10-15 minutes in the waiting room with about 4 other people in it, which wasn’t too bad. When I was called back, the guy who checked my vitals and asked about what I was going through was very nice and comedic.

After he was finished with what he needed to do, I was transferred to another “common” area where a bunch of other patients were with nothing but thin curtains hanging up to create barriers between myself and the others in there with their various issues. This made me immediately uncomfortable.

After about 20 minutes of waiting someone (nurse, I'm assuming) asked me to move to the smaller cubicle right next door to that one because she needed to do a pelvic exam. TMI. She moves me next door and asks what I'm in for and I told her, and told her how a receptionist over the phone specified that the type of doctor I needed was on duty and able to be paged.

Her response: "No, we don't do that here!" She gave me a spiel about how seeing someone that I needed would be a process, and I was pretty crushed. They offered to give me a quick remedy that would basically put a bandaid on my issue, and that was that.

After that, she left and another nurse came over to mix me up the medication and I was trying to ask questions about the medicine. She answered one question vaguely before whisking off to attend to someone else. My significant other and I did some research on our phone and found out the medication she gave me could cause bad adverse side effects. I just sat it down in front of me.

We sat there some more, waiting for someone to come help or answer some questions. One of the nurses came and gave a pelvic exam to a poor woman right next to us behind a paper thin curtain. We heard all of it. I quickly realized my issues were not worth all of this, so we got up and approached someone asking to be discharged. The person to the left of me had his curtains open and was suffering from a stomach injury. That's how little privacy anyone had.

Waiting for discharge papers was another 10 minutes. The nurse finally came back out with my discharge papers and in front of a room full of people within earshot asked for my full address and phone number so she could send me information.

We hightailed it the f°°° out of there....
