The Sweet Spot Candy Shoppe and Dundee Candy — Local services in Louisville

I actually wanted to post this review a couple of weeks ago but forgot until I just rode pass. Me and my son do not frequent the Sweet Spot often however when we spend are day on Bardstown today he like to visit the store. However we will not be returning. I do not want this review to be read under the bases that I believe the store workers actions are racist because I can not make that conclusion because me and my son were the only 2 people in the store. We were greeted appropriately upon entering the shop.My son looked around for a second and the guy behind the counter said we have an upstairs as well. Upon us walking up the 2 or 3 steps a young lady comes from the back and starts circling around us. I don't recall her greeting us or asking us for help. She just kept circling around pretending to check items and not filling anything up. While all at the same time when I would look up the gentleman downstairs would be peeking around the wall than when he would see me look he would look down as if he was looking at his phone. My son is a very slow shopper so this probably went on for 15 mins. Eventually we went back down the steps and he picked an item and we left. I felt so uncomfortable the entire time I was there because I could feel them watching us closely. I did not make my son leave because he specifically wanted to go to the shop and if I would have tried to explain in the store to him because he doesn't handle those things well. I stare again I do not know or want to speak if this is racially motivated because no one else was in the store. I believe that no one of any color or age wants to feel this uncomfortable while shopping. I explained to my son the situation after we left so that he would not ask to go again. As far as choices go a lot of the items where gummies if that's what you are looking for. They do have a Jelly bean and M&M dispenser walls So that you can get your favorite flavors and colors. They also have a selection of pastries. If you are looking for something new I would suggest finding different...

I attempted to get into contact with this location about my experience via their website, but no one ever responded to me, so I decided just to go ahead and post a review. This happened about a year ago now, so hopefully the issue has been resolved. Me and my family vacation in Louisville every year to see extended family, and last year I was really excited to take my candy loving partner to this sweet shop, as my family has shopped here many years with expansive selection and friendly staff. However, this time did not go over very well. We were the first in the store this day, and it was fairly quiet and empty except for us and a young teenage boy worker with glasses. Upon entering the store, he didn’t seem to notice us and later confirmed this stating he hadn’t heard the door. After he did however he came up to me and my partner and asked candidly, if we liked “dark or racist jokes” which I replied with a hasty no, and then asked if they had a candy my mother liked. He told us the joke anyway which made it sound as if the teller was saying a racial slur. I thought he may read the uncomfortable atmosphere and leave us alone, but he did not and instead followed us around and explained that he “wasn’t racist” and continued to tell “dad jokes.” At this point I was really uncomfortable and wanted to leave, so I put down the candy I planned to buy for my parents, just bought a push pop for my partner, since he was having a bad day and left. I haven’t been back since. If this employee still works at this store they need to have a serious conversation about customer service etiquette. I’ve worked in the industry for 5+ years and have never even thought of saying things like that...

Thank you, thank you, for restocking the Dots Black Crows. I finally was able to stop in and O'BOY your photos simply dont do the store justice. The gourmet chocolates, abstract flavors of Cotton Candy, sodas and array of nostalgic candy were amazing. Not only did you immediately respond to my Facebook request once the Crows came in, I was sent a message through Instant Messenger that they arrived. The young man in the shop was so darling and more than helpful. I would also like to clarify on a few of your other reviews. YES, they do stock all sorts of colors, flavors and sizes of ROCK CANDY, that any Baker would be proud to use. Also, I COULDNT BE MORE THANKFUL THAT YOU WOULD INFORM A CUSTOMER THAT SOME OF YOUR PRODUCTS ARE PREPARED WITH REAL ALCOHOL, RATHER THAN A FLAVORING. Obvious the customer who stated that Sweet Spot inferred that he, his friends or family were alcoholics, really didnt care about their sobriety. Additionally, your products are FACTORY WRAPPED as an inside package and no store would break that inner clear seal to show a customer the product. All your products are clearly visible to the customer and the store was ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE . I definitely will be back and recommend to all. A++
