Three of us went to this metro by t-mobile location. We were there for my brother-in-law to get a phone. They started by asking for an ID. Weird?
Well, my brother-in-law went into his wallet and realized his ID was at home.
So, what can we do without an ID? The salesman said "The plan is $60 and if you want a free phone, this is it."
I was appalled... all of my icky sales tactics alarm bells were going off!
So I asked if they had only one plan, because I had heard of others. Not the salesman, but the manager pointed us to a poster with 3 plans listed...in Spanish!
I've never been assumed to speak Spanish, even when I've been in Spanish speaking countries. I'm white of mostly British Isles descent. My husband and brother-in-law are black, and my brother-in-law speaks with a British accent because they are East African.
I read the poster to my brother-in-law (I happen to speak Spanish fluently). As I started to tell my brother-in-law the differences between the plans, the manager came over to sell us the $60 plan. He said no videos could be ever streamed on the $40 plan, only Google searches and seeing photos.
I held back, but then watched the manager push the $60 plan over the $50. He tried to say the difference in Hotspot was important without explaining Hotspot. I said to him that we have wifi and don't need a Hotspot because we don't have devices we need to connect to a Hotspot, so the real difference is Amazon prime. The manager finally agreed.
Next, back to the phone. I asked if that was really the only phone he could get? He said yes, it is a good phone, Motorola is a good phone. I said "Yes, we've had them before, but it doesn't seem to have 5g. What about this Motorola with 5g?" I pointed to the phone we wanted.
He said that wasn't free, my brother-in-law would have to pay for it. I said, " so we have to give up 5g and a better phone because he has no ID with him?" We got no response to my rhetorical question.
The three if us decided we needed to drive the 2 miles home to get his ID and have options. They reminded us that they were closing at 7pm. It was 5:30.
When we left and could be candid, we decided not to give them the sale. In the 10 minutes it took to get through downtown traffic to home, we had ordered the better phone with the plan we wanted online. NO ID needed, just answered some security questions.
That was Wednesday. Today, two days later, is Friday. The phone arrived before 2pm. It took a few minutes to activate online. DONE.
T-mobile via Metro...
Read moreI bought the Pixel 6A specifically because it's Bootloader unlockable. Metro PCS removed the option on their phones until the phone is unlocked. T mobile itself is so congested in Lowell streaming mp3s is impossible sometimes. With Metro the last three times over tried their useless service I've been unable I stream an MP3 until I'm out of Lowell. And they wouldn't unlock it even to move over to T Mobile. So I was expected to pay for 6 months in order to unlock it. The service is so terrible I would not ever use it again even if they paid me $30 per month and it was free. It's terrible. The network is simply way too congested. I cannot believe I'm going to say this but I really wish Sprint was never shutdown. At least with Sprint, you knew it wasn't the greatest service. Not to mention we only have three networks now unless you wanna try the new Dish (Boost) which has less coverage than Sprint ever did. And the 2G slow down thing... How is that even legal? You don't off 2G Service anymore but still slow down to those speeds? 128KBPS is 1MB every ten seconds.... So why is it the service won't load a 4 MB web page after ten minutes? Should be able to load 60 Mb worth of data after ten minutes, nevermind 4MB. It is NOT 128 Kbps it's more like 1kbps if your slowed down to a speed...
Read moreI have had a Metro PCS phone on the unlimited$50 plan with $6 insurance for 2 years but was a little low on cash so I ask one of the sales associates if I I cancelled my insurance or didn't pay at that time, would I be able to get my insurance and unlimited service back. I was told yes definitely. Well, that was NOT the case. When I went to put the insurance back on, I was told no, then my phone was stolen within 2 days. Since I was inside the 90 days of a new upgrade, I had to wait until then to purchase a new phone. They offered me absolutely no solution. I brought a phone in from a friend to to if I could use that, for which they said yes. Took my money for activation ($10 + $10) and sim card then I was told the phone wouldn't work and the money was non refundable! Then I decided to add a line for $30 and buy a $100 phone at 50% off the price promotion. Just to be able to use a phone but I have to keep that line for 30 days. All I wanted was to have access to my phone number because that's the only way to even look at my email due to the new 🔑 security! Grateful for the security but Very disappointed in this...
