I heard about this cafe and was excited to check it out, thinking I may have found a new place to hang out and get coffee downtown. When I entered the first thing I noticed was the lack of music or anything a typical cafe would make sure to include for the sake of ambience or a semi-pleasant environment. I sat at the couch near the window, where my sister pointed out this sign. I don't even know where to start with this, read the attached image for yourself..... first off, what makes the owner think a sign like this would be good for their business?? it's genuinely one of the most unprofessional things I have seen in my life. the message made us extremely uncomfortable as my sister and I are both "young people". It created a hostile environment, and made me feel unwelcome in the cafe. The language in the sign is unbelievably condescending; the whole thing is awfully specific and seems like a matter that should be settled one-on-one rather than aired out to all your clientele. Also, how on earth do you expect to gain customers when you shame people for wanting to sit in your cafe? You do know what a cafe typically is, right? If you don't want people to sit, make it into a diner style place. It is so incredibly out of touch to blame young people for your business failing when 1. you're located between a highschool and a college and 2. your REAL issue is due to your own financial irresponsibility, not some teenagers hoping to use your wifi. The real kicker is this: the sign says you want people to buy something in order to sit in the cafe, but then the menu says you will change the prices at any time WITHOUT NOTICE. I didn't take a photo of that but believe me I was shocked. Not everyone can afford to buy something, especially if your menu isn't even accurate. Anyways, all of these factors have ruined the establishment for me and I will not be returning; it's a shame, because the...
Read moreI went here because we had their bread from a farmer's market before and it was tasty. They have some good sandwich options and soups, though I wish they'd cross off soups when they run out or cover them up since it's inconvenient deciding what you want only to have to suddenly change it while trying to order. My apple and brie sandwich was very tasty! It seems like they use good quality ingredients. I mainly just wish they'd polish the customer service a little. For example, when I came in and started trying to ask about something the girl was eating something at the register. I've worked in restaurants before and know it can be inconvenient but at least step away. Also, tried asking about buying a loaf of bread and it was surprisingly confusing. Most importantly, the girl at the register took my card and used the computer to ring me up with her plastic food safety gloves on and then went and handled loaves of bread with them. Not okay. I will be coming back with my husband because I think it has a lot of potential and serves good,...
Read moreThe food I ordered was good. I would recommend that if a sandwich is made to go that they wrap the pickle instead of just putting it in the box with the sandwich. There was a ton of pickle juice in the box and by the time I ate the sandwich the bread was soggy and tasted mostly like pickles.
My biggest issue was with the cleanliness of the place. They have a big display shelf where they showcase their loaves of bread but the bottom shelf had bottles of cleaner, a sweatshirt and various other items strewn on it. I looked back in the work station and cleaning bottles were all over the place; in the wash sink, on the prep counter, next to the uncovered pastries, etc. Lastly, the eating area needs a serious clean. There was a layer of dust everywhere, there were coffee stains, honey sticky spots and general grime throughout the self serve coffee station and the uncovered pastries that are positioned right next to the register and, consequently, the customer, was unsettling. Thinking of even one kid touching those scones was...
