I love shopping at Market Street. BUTTTT⌠being harassed at the self checkout line wasnât in the agenda early Sunday morning. Mind you I am the ONLY one in self checkout. There is in no line.. there isnât even sight of another customer. I am shopping with my 7 year old daughter getting some produce and a few yogurts and water.. thatâs it. I did not have a basket full I had about maybe 20 items (produce adds up quick). I get approached by the employee working the self checkout area while minding my business and moving swiftly to check out my items and she verbatim says âNext time you need to use the other lines because this is for 15 items or less.. we are trying to get all of yâall used to that!!â Mind you she did not say this nicely. She definitely had some attitude behind her statement. My response.. nothing. I proceeded to checkout my items. You could say I ignored her. Because I was honestly shocked at what just happened. I didnât feel I was doing anything wrong. I was grocery shopping at a store I have been loyal to for years and paying for my items. As my daughter and I are returning our cart and grabbing our bags to leave this employee then walks over to another employee who comes over to self checkout and makes it obvious that she is talking about me.. (they both turn to stare at me and my daughter after the employee whispers something in her ear and give us dirty looks). Mind you this is also a much older women acting like this. I felt very uncomfortable and it made my 7 year old daughter uncomfortable. Iâm just curious though.. if I do have one item over the limit am I going to be kicked out of the store? I feel like I am pretty good about being considerate that if I have a basket full I go stand in line but I didnât this morning and I maybe took 3-4 minutes total to checkout, bag and pay for my items. Again there was no one else in self checkout. Regardless you are making money. I am just extremely disappointed. This also wasnât the first time this has happened at this store and itâs always a much older cranky woman who is adamant about counting your items....
Read moreThe products I buy keep being discontinued, and I have less and less reason to shop here. Mainly affordable organic items, which are practically non existent in the store nowadays. Or lower end, but not bottom shelf quality items. One recent example was the Koyo organic ramen packets, which are only $1.50, have been removed and replaced with a $6.00 ramen packet. I feel like the loyalty towards regular customers looking for affordable and also healthier items is being abandoned. Not sure what the reasoning here is, but if you are trying to get your numbers up in profits, you're going to be sorely disappointed when it doesn't work out for you, AND you have lost customer loyalty. The organic produce had an immediate reduction in quality as soon as Albertson's bought the company, so I have mainly shopped elsewhere for that since. I have also noticed the obscene wastefulness in excessive plastic packaging especially in the deli area, all ending up in a landfill most likely. A heavy duty plastic container for a little sandwich, or a plastic container that could hold an entire pie being used for one small slice of pizza, for example. Not to mention the loud, vulgar, and unnecessary blinding lights on the new drink cooler installations. It all just screams excess, disregard, and wastefulness and I imagine the cost is transferred onto the customer. Oh yeah, almost forgot to add, it's shame Petes coffee is gone - $1 coffee, and it tasted great, unlike the new place that's 3x as expensive and too bitter to be palatable. And the muffins (united's) are wayyy too sweet. Sprouts' are way better. There are still some neat things about the store, and this location in particular always seems to have the nicest employees. ...
Read moreI have used this grocery store for many years. I am familiar with the leadership team and staff. I often order from the app and use "Streetside". Yesterday, I was concerned with a couple of the items that were substituted in my online order. After calling and letting them know I would want to return a couple of things, the Streetside manager, Holly was very helpful. I am sure they were busy with a holiday weekend coming up, and I felt a little guilty/ nitpicky asking her to help me remove some of the stuff as I was picking up the order. She was really kind and patient with me, I was removing a couple of the items because the sale items were out of stock and the replacement items cost a lot more. Holly was great, she took care of my concerns, she even called me to let me know they found some of my stuff right as I was leaving and she met me outside when I pulled back in the parking lot. I like United/ Market Street. The service is usually pretty good at this location, it is a very busy store though. I especially like the app, there are some good coupons and loyalty rewards! Check for the promotional codes on the app when you order, sometimes there are 10 or $20 off of an order over $100. Best of all, when I order online I don't have to worry about parking or...
