What happens when there's a frito shortage? The wonderful people from Chopped and Sliced BBQ improvise and create this fun take on a traditional frito pie using Honey BBQ Fritos (minus the cheese for me)!
Let me tell you about how this happened and how awesome these people are:
I ordered a regular frito pie with no cheese because I can't have dairy. There was a mistake and the one I had received had cheese on it but I didn't notice until I was home. I gave them a call and they let me know they had given out the last of their fritos and informed me of the shortage, but they had some Honey BBQ Fritos they could use instead and even offered to bring it all to me! I agreed and met them there instead since I don't live far at all (and because of how kind they were!). They rushed over to their other location to make it and had it ready by the time I got there. I was thrilled to have has such a great experience and was excited to try this twist on frito pie since the honey bbq ones are some of my favorite chips. And let me tell you... it's SO Yummy!!
Everyone needs to know that they have THE BEST frito pie in town (Yes even better than Bighams who once gave me one with a bolt the size of my finger mixed in- but that's a story for another time😂).
The frito pie from C&S BBQ comes with one side. There's also pickles and onions mixed in it so if you don't like them, just ask them not to add it but they complement so well with everything if you do like them!
All this to say, go getcha some great BBQ (and maybe wait a couple days if you want frito pie specially so a shipment can come into...
Read morei randomly found them through lubbock's "what's new" website. i had eaten at their food truck before and really liked it, so decided to try their new restaurant! The food was amazing, and i am a big guy, but i couldn't finish the 3 meat plate. The BBQ was smoked perfectly and was juicy. no need for BBQ sauce, but they had a aesome flavored one provided anyway. the mac and cheese is the best in town. with a sharp cheese bite, and lightly spiced with a bit of jalapeno. first i'd had it like that, and i gotta say, i'm converted. Being overly full and ready to pop already, i did what every red blooded Texan does... i ordered the Pecan Cobbler and homemade vanilla bean ice cream. it was very rich and delicious, and the portion was best suited to split it with someone, or maybe even 2 someones. over all, i loved this place and will def. be back. if i am able to waddle my way back through the door, because of the Texas...
Read moreVERY disappointed 👎 My son ordered and had my folks bring me a Chicken Fried Steak meal from here a couple weeks ago due to I was unable to join them for lunch. That was one of the best chicken fried steaks I'd eaten in town. However, we stopped in there yesterday after a Dr visit for my dad. Ordered the CFS meal due to the former one was so good. It was a To Go meal. Both my moms and my CFS meal was horrible. Hardly ANY breading and it tasted funny as did the gravy. It looked like it had been warmed on a griddle. And the cornmeal muffin was hard and dry 🤔 And my dad's chopped bbq sandwich and corn on the cob was also dry. He wasn't able to finish it. Our meals were definitely not worth the money we paid. Most likely will never go back to this place 🤨 Sad because I was telling the girl there how the one my son had bought me before was so good. Super...
