Had a bad experience there with other customers. I haven’t gone out much because of COVID but my preschooler needed some supplies for her school projects so we went on a Saturday afternoon. The line was long but I was happy to wait as it was moving pretty fast. The line was close to the toy/Christmas aisle and I asked my daughter to get me a toy I wanted to buy for my son maybe a foot away. She didn’t understand which one I wanted to look at so I LUNGED and REACHED for it at the same time the line moved up one. An older lady, her daughter and a boy took my spot so of course I politely said excuse me and got back in front of her. I was in front of her to begin with before I reached for the toy. The daughter then proceeded to harass me (with my preschool daughter) saying “Excuse me are you cutting in line” I told her I was in line and she said “no you weren’t” then the mother jumped in saying that “her daughter is a teacher and is just used to people being in their place”. The daughter even told me “well at least social distance” when they were the ones behind me and were close to me! I was just in shock and just continued to let them know I was in fact in line. The daughter then asks her mom “mom will you let her CUT in front of you?” Again I said I was in line to begin with. She said “You left the line and my mom is nice enough to let you CUT in line” I told her one last time I was in fact in line then she rudely said “We’re done talking!”. I let them know that since they were making a big deal just to go ahead of me (even though they were behind me to begin with) The little boy then shouts to me “thank you have a great day! “ I told him back. The older lady paid and left the store. As the rude (teacher) daughter was paying I let my daughter know how important it is to be nice to other people and being mean is not what this world needs right now. When I got in my car I felt the tears coming when a nice lady (that was behind both of us in line)knocks on my window to tell me how well I handled that situation and her working in education was embarrassed by how that “teacher” had acted. I felt so much better after that and knew I had done the right thing by not escalating the situation and being rude back. I cried the way home and explained to my daughter exactly what happened and all she said was how could that teacher be so mean when her current teacher is no nice. I couldn’t answer that question very well and just let her know that there are just mean people in this world, some can even be teachers. I just found it so sad how I haven’t had a lot of human interaction outside immediate family due to COVID and the one I do have running a small errand in a small town store turned out to be with these rude people. My husband was also in disbelief of what happened when I got home, knowing I had just cried. My anxiety has been at an all time high after this experience and unfortunately I won’t likely return to the store and will just stick to...
Read moreI'm not one to complain often but this just rubbed me the wrong way! I arrived at 950pm and know they close at 10pm needed a few things really fast one being a phone charger didn't want to go into HEB anyway being close to done but saving the phone charger till last to grab the manger sees me and says sir we are closed! As of u need to leave rt or can't u see we are closed being in the service business for such a long time myself I feel something like good evening sir we are locking up and closing is there anything I can help u with or find would have been one way to go about it or when u make your final selections we can check u out up front etc because anything to let someone know the store is closing generally speaking that person will hurry and leave I do understand there are exceptions to that but then u can take other steps if need be but needles to say air we are closed just came off really rude and unhelpful I feel as if maybe this particular manger might be very to the book or almost robotic to a degree not great people skills that's better also nothing against her I'm sure maybe she doesn't even realize how she came across but just something to work on perhaps I'm sure she is a hard worker and probably the kind u want just not when it comes to customers service! Read moreThe store is well organized and clean. They have a large freezer section . There is also a small fruit and vegetable bin. It is a big store . My issue was that there was a long line . The self checkout wasn't working . There was only one cashier . It wasn't fair to her or the customers. She was very good , she dealt with coupons, returns etc . I can't understand why Dollar General has only one worker. It isn't safe . Is there a manager in the store to help? I didn't like having to wait . It would've been nice if the self checkout was working . Then people with one or two items could check out and keep the line moving . I had ice cream it was melting as I waited in line . The cashier did a very good job but I think it was unfair for her to be by herself. It wasn't fair to the customers to have to wait . It is my opinion that Dollar General should have at least two cashiers. What good is a nice store if it takes you forever to checkout?
