The full-figured, brunette, mid to late 20s, female manager was extremely unprofessional and rude regarding a very simple issue. Incident occurred around 30 minutes ago (9 PM on Friday, October 20).
I wanted a shirt that had a visible stain on it. I asked the cashier if it was possible to get a discount on the shirt as it had a stain on it. The cashier went to get her manager, the manager pulled her two feet away from the cash register, and the cashier said that the manager said that I could go back home and wash it, and if the stain doesn't come off, I can come back in and return it as per the policy. It's funny because the manager was telling everything to the cashier instead of directly telling me but I could hear everything the manager was saying to the cashier. I asked the cashier where I can find the policy so I can read up on it, and the cashier went to ask the manager about where it states this in the policy. The manager finally came up next to the cashier and said "yeah it says that in the policy." As the manager said this, she rolled her eyes by the way. The manager could not tell me or point for me where the policy states this.
I thought it was frustrating and unprofessional how the manager had to pull the "policy" trick on me, what she told me to do (taking it home and washing it) was complete common sense.
The cashier told me that the manager will just take care of it and give me 10% off the shirt. They only took 0.99 cents of the shirt when 10% of $19.99 is $1.99.
The cashier was very nice and sweet though. That manager should learn or...
Read moreI just wanted to pass along a some special praise & acknowledgment about one of your employees. My wife and I regularly shop at your Marshalls over on the east side of Madison. On most occasions, we seem to run into her or be helped out by a wonderful employee of yours named, Jenna. Each time she has always been so positive and helpful. In addition, she is one smart cookie! None the less, you have some good staff there, but Jenna seems to stand for us. She has impressed both myself and my wife on numerous occasions. Through short conversations, over time, weâve gotten to know a little about her â did you know that sheâs still a senior in high school at Sun Prairie High School maintaining straight-A's and a dancer all the while working a job! What an amazing young gal! I have no idea what her role is there or if she desires to grow with the company, but all I can say is you have a real âkeeperâ there! I'd hire her in a second if I could (and do all I could to keep her). Again, many of your staff have been very nice to us and very customer service oriented people, but we couldnât let another day pass by without mentioning how much we enjoy Marshallâs and a portion of that has to do with...
Read moreI disliked my experience there this weekend. I shopped there several times over the holidays. I didn't keep my receipts, which was a big mistake, on me. I don't take things back often, but have easily taken things back to Kohl's in the past with no receipt and received no hassle. The clerk at Marshall's made me feel like I was a burden, no smile in greeting, letting me know it would take time to process. She asked why I removed half of the tag. I had it in hand, and I told her, "because it was a gift, and it had the price on it." Then, she said the tag (partially left on) it didn't match up in the system. I know it is the right tag, because it is the only one I kept, writing on it, "Alison's sweater." So, I asked if it fell out of the system, because it was so long ago (possibly October?). She said that, "no it doesn't match." I felt dismissed, and unhappy. It didn't even cost that much ($16), and I was willing to take the sale price. It was more the way she came across, the way she treated me that bothered me. I have had better experiences there in the past, so this is specifically for Sunday, January 19, 2020. Could be she was...
