UPDATE: It seems that Morgan's Shoes saw my review and took action. I received a handwritten letter from the manager, who not only updated my account to provide a full credit for the shoes my boyfriend had purchased but also included an additional gift card to further apologize for the situation. Thank you, Morgan's Shoes! The thoughtful note and credit alone would have been sufficient, but the extra gift card was above and beyond. It's rare to encounter that sort of customer service these days, and I want to acknowledge it! As a result of their efforts to resolve the issue, I am updating my review from 3 stars to 4 stars.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: My boyfriend got me a pair of shoes for Christmas. We went to exchange them today because they weren’t something I would wear and he spent $195 on them. When we got there Josie said sorry we can’t do that because you are past 30 days. Her coworker looked at them and was like it’s fine, it’s obvious they have never been worn. I’m like yeah, I literally put them on my feet once to try them on and I’m not looking for money back just a store exchange. She’s like fine. I then found shoes and she told me since the shoes we were exchanging were now selling for $150 that’s all we could get for them even though we clearly had a receipt that stated they were purchased for $205 (with tax). Honestly I’m really trying to be better and support local and small businesses but wtf?! We literally lost out on $40+ dollars because I missed the 30 day window by a few days?! I’m sorry, January was a busy month for me. You’d think a small, local business would be a little more accommodating. Original...
Read moreCan't rate Morgans any higher than this. Based on the location and the space you would expect quality. However, this is not the case. I can't find any shoes with Blake stitch or Goodyear Welt construction. It's all cemented soles with low quality materials made with slave labor.
I wanted to give Morgans a chance by buying some shoe care products. However, their cedar shoe trees are $54. That's a price entirely too high for a product I can get for $35 at a different local retailer in a more sophisticated market. There's honestly nothing special about these shoe trees either, same as the $25 shoe trees found on Amazon. I also tried to buy laces for my boots. Quelle surprise, they didn't even have those. Though Target across the street did, so I bought them there.
This place offers sub par products that is so common with this town. Unfortunately, the state of Madison's retail environment consistently presents locals with a "low rent" experience due to the unsophisticated nature of this area. Maybe this is a product of the average Madisonian refusing to pay for quality footwear. If you’re a discerning customer then it may be best to take your business online, to a proper city, or just generally...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Morgan Shoes and I was treated just like royalty. Paige was the expert that I had the pleasure of working with; she was AMAZING. I say that because she excelled at listening to my special needs and used her 18 plus years of knowledge to fit my special needs for footwear. The last year has been more painful with my feet than ever before in my lifetime. Three decades in the hospitality and food service industry has left me with permanent damage to anything below the waistline. A recent injury and a full knee replacement in January has had me walking like I am on sharp spikes. Paige not only found the right shoe and inserts for my feet but also explained WHY I needed what she suggested. I have been in a sales position now for nearly 4 years and know more about the difference between selling verses assisting the customer. I was not sold to but I was genuinely helped. Thank you Paige for the passion and knowledge you shared with me on my first visit. I am sure you give every customer the same level of professionalism and I will return again to work with you. I would highly recommend to everyone to visit Morgan's Shoes and ask to work with Paige. She...
