SEPHORA — Local services in Madison

The store itself was fine, pretty cute selection of items - both trendy and timeless.

That being said. I did have a really negative experience with one of the members working there that made me super uncomfortable and honestly, pretty offended.

I was walking around (a bit aimlessly), mainly on my phone trying to find hair products for my hair bc it’s been so frizzy, with a few products in the Sephora basket that I thought could work. One of the staff had come up to me (I didn’t catch their name but they had a vibrant pink blush on and dark long hair) and at first j checked in w me while I was shopping. They then stared at me for a few moments (in a way that j made me a little uncomfy?) followed w a pretty loud “OH MY GOSH! I LOVE YOUR NECKLACE!” I look down and thanked them and they responded with “oh, I thought you were stealing”

??? bröther what ???

I totally understand doing your job and watching for theft (completely get it); but to come up to someone without being 100% sure and then saying “i thought you were stealing” is not so great.

I would like to start by saying my girlfriend and I absolutely love Sephora. It saddens me to leave a review for this location. Today was the final straw. There is a brown/black lady there with hair extensions/wig I believe she is a manager or lead. On several occasions I’ve seen her be rude, dirty looks, aggressive responses to many guest and one of her coworkers. I initially thought it was to a certain race until my girlfriend came back to the car crying after encountering her. My girlfriend is brown/black. Madison is a diverse culture of people. No matter your skin color or race, everyone should be treated with respect. You work there and we shop there. Please be mindful of the dirty looks, aggressive responses and treatment to guest. It’s 2025 if you’re not happy with your job you can easily find a new one. Not sure if we’ll return to this location. Possibly stick to online shopping. Sucks to watch my girlfriend cry over and unhappy Sephora employee! Please hire kinder...

The store is clean and organized but like other reviewers, I, too, have experienced odd customer service. I was considering a hair product purchase, but wanted to look at the reviews online. I was looking through the reviews when a worker approached me, and I looked at her very quickly and responded to her with, "I'm good, thanks," because I didn't need any help. She stood there and very gruffly said, "No, I asked you if you need any support." Yikes. Admittedly, I was preoccupied on my phone, and maybe that frustrated her, but she approached me without request. This store apparently needs better customer service training. I think I'll stick to...
