I Encourage All to Check It Out
We used to go to this place after eating breakfast at Paneras, but now it has become my go-to grocery store. It has the best stuff. As an international store, it has more variety of everything from produce to snacks to meats to everything.
First, the beer. It has a wider selection of beer than any place in the area. As an international store it carries beers from all over literally. One of my favorites is Cold Gold from Ethiopia. But they carry beers from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas the DR, the three most popular beers from my favorite place in the world Honduras, various Mexican beers and of course the typical Bud and IPAs and Fosters, etc.
The produce is fresh. I like my green beans. They're easy to cook and go with almost everything. They also have the mini bananas, platanos ripe or green some red bananas that are weird looking but delicious. Precious likes to get dragon fruit to keep her regular. Don't eat too much of that.
The meats we like goat every now and then lamb and of course cow chicken and pork. It's a good place to go to get less popular cuts like pigs feet, chicken feet and fish heads.
They have a good seafood department with tons of tilapia as well as things like octopus and squid. The snacks they have things from Asia and Latin America plantain chips and banana chips are delicious. They have Doritos and potato chips too.
Same thing with soft drinks they have the regular coke and pepsi but also guaranta malta and drinks from colombia and don't forget the Mexican coke. It also has cleaning products section. I use tapioca flour in a recipe, and they have a variety of brands for that.
They also have a taqueria in the back. I've never tried it. Precious has another favorite taco place, but someone told me that they have the best tacos in the area.
All in all, it has almost everything you can get at Giant but with a lot more...
Read moreThe 2 stars are due to the pricing and selection being great. I was so excited to shop here initially. However, we went to the seafood area to purchase fresh fish and somehow communicated to the worker who didn't speak English, which fish I'd like and how much to cut by using hand gestures.
This employee dropped the half cut fish in front of me on the dirty floor. Said something while smiling at his coworker, and tossed that dirty piece in the ticketed bag for me to purchase. My husband and I saw this guy drop the fish, laugh and put it in the bag in front of us. Neither of us speak their language to communicate.. I looked at my husband in shock and wanted to cry. My husband comforted me and told me it's ok, we'll wash it well.
Just thought I'd write this out to let you shoppers know, if you see it happening, speak up if you can or hold your peace like...
Read morePros: they have a broad selection of things for grocers across cultures. Want to find something exotic that suits your adventurous weekend recipes? -- They have your ingredients covered. And the best thing comes last: their prices are quite reasonable on these items as well!
Cons: on the pricings: if you look for ethnic stuff this place got decent pricings. I enjoyed their Asian, Mexican, Indian selections. Yet if you look for things that source directly in the U.S., look elsewhere (hints: American stores and Aldi will have your back on these item). Their stuff sometimes don't get fresh checked; pay attention to the expiration dates!!!! I cannot stress this enough! More than once the fresh noodles I bought turned out NOT all that fresh! Their aisles may be a little more messy and dirty than, say, Giant/Safeway/Harris...
