I know this establishment is the newest of all the Chunky's theaters but it needs a lot of things adjusted and fixed already. My husband and I have tried going here at least 3 times now and all 3 experiences haven't been good. All three times we've ordered food.. we wouldn't receive it till at least halfway into the movie. The first time I had an issue with my gluten free order not coming out gluten free (non-gluten free cookie sitting on top of my sandwich) as well as our third and last time going there. But what really forced our hand in not coming back ever again... is that they took my sandwich out back, took the cookie off then came back 2 minutes later with it....... I knew I didn't have a new grilled cheese and was very nervous thinking that they had NO IDEA how to handle customers with Celiac Disease like myself. Even a crumb that can't be seen with the naked eye could get me sick, harm my intestines to the point that I have to be in the hospital. So just taking the cooking off is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I re-explained ALL OF THIS again to the waiter and he said a new one will be made. After waiting another half an hour (grilled cheeses take less than 10 minutes to make) I asked if my food was coming out any time soon. The waiter went back and checked, then brought it to my table. I took a bite and realized that it was not even cooked... cold bread and cheese..... so my "grilled" cheese sandwich was not grilled... I was so devastated because of how hungry I was and disheartened that nobody knew what they were doing when it came to servicing customers who require gluten free food only to live. The movie was almost over that I just choked down the cold sandwich because I was to upset to ask for new sandwich for a 3rd time. After the movie my husband saw my tears, I told him what was wrong with this sandwich and he asked the waiter to get the manager so he could speak with him. To the manager's surprise, we waited in the lobby and not in the theater.. and he had said a sarcastic comment about us to his co-worker when walking toward the theater we were standing next to. When he saw us and we told them that we were the ones waiting for him he switched his attitude 180 degrees the other way. He heard everything we had to say and he seemed to feel genuinely bad for the horrible service we received and didn't charge us for our meal. That was nice of him, but what is needed the most is a change in how the staff knowledge and know-how with customers that have auto-immune diseases like...
Read moreWe love chunkys and used to go all the time before they shut down the Pelham and Nashua locations. We attended one of their last viewings at the Nashua location, and they gave us passes to come visit the Manchester location. We decided to check them out and drove about an hr yesterday to come watch a movie. Immediately we can see why they kept this location over the others. It was beautiful, the walkway in, the bar, the lobby. It was all very impressive. Got a drink at the bar cause we were early. (Yummy drink) But as soon as we got into our theater for our movie, that's when things changed. I used to love picking my car seat, but here they're all the same no variety to choose from. We got there about 45-30 mins before showtime, sat down, and waited for a waitress. It look her about 25 mins to come greet us. As soon as she did, we placed our entire order. 30 mins later, our entrees arrived (which were cold) before we even got our drinks, appetizer, and bag of popcorn. They messed up on one entree and gave us regular fries as we requested a waffle. Finally, they came with 2 drinks another 15 mins later, and that's when we told them about the side issue and missing items. Instead of just bringing me the correct item, they took back the whole plate. The movie has already started by this point. Finally, they come with the last drink. Apologized for the wait, 15 mins later, they bring the popcorn. Still no last entree. Just when I was about to cancel my order, they finally arrived with it and it was cold. Not once did anyone check on us, Ask how the food was if we needed anything. I desperately needed a refill, and our light on the table was broken to call them. Finally, they come with the bill. The card reader didn't work. She had to go get another. Asked for some boxes which we didn't get til the credits were almost over. Needless to say, I think this probably was been our worse encounter with chunkys yet. In the atmosphere and ambiance is great, but the service here was terrible. $100 later I won't be rushing back...
Read moreDISAPPOINTED: Tried to see a movie as a celebration with my family. We arrived an hour early. Ticket vendor was pleasant and we entered the theatre. Being a restaurant/movie establishment I was surprised that my server took 40 minutes to get to us....I waited 35 minutes because I heard a different server notifying another table that thier food selection was limited. My kids being hungry it now being almost 8pm I decided to find a Manager or someone to explain the situation. I found someone and asked for a manager....the ticket Holder was very nice btw. My wife then came out to get me because a server finally arrived at our table to tell my sister who was with us they had been limited to microwave food. This Ticket holder now called again for a manager and had to leave his station to find someone. The manager finally arrived. He explained that they have a gas problem and they can microwave stuff.....I asked why they couldn't have notified us before selling us the tickets or perhaps notify all of us in the theatre. That, I would of liked to know before waiting 40 minutes his reply, "So would I" Interesting reply....bit sarcastic..Yes People might rethink staying if they cant cook...but chunkys serves food....I am not serving my kids popcorn and grilled cheese that cost 9 dollars for dinner. Why would I pay for chunkys if I could go to my local theatre...he did not offer compensation or apologies. We headed back and went to the Ticket associate and got a refund. We will not be back. I am not picky or overly critical....what was bad was communication and the experience. They should be better at keeping their customers happy. Some empathy would of been nice. Some notification. We were hoping for atmosphere and experience and it was a bad one.
You can tell all you need to know about an establishment with how they handle a bad situation that either delays service or cancels it. I'm afraid Management is lacking in customer satisfaction. Perhaps more training from their employees is in order at...
