Saying this as kindly as possible and merely wanting to leave my experience. I mean no I’ll will, I just wanted to voice my thoughts. The truffles are certainly nice, which is why I came there. The website said they were $34 for a 16-piece. When I showed up and purchased them at the counter, I’m asked “which box would you like,” so I chose one. When paying, the price seemed off, but I thought that was due to taxes. When leaving and checking the receipt, it was at least $5 off. I called and asked why and was told the box had a cost and wasn’t free. I asked if there were any free boxes to choose and they said there wasn’t. I’m just confused because how do I get 16 truffles home without putting them in a box? Plus, I wasn’t given an option to not use a box. Also, looking at the receipt, it doesn’t differentiate that the box costed; it lumps the truffles and box together. To me, this added fee for the box just felt deceptive. And for $5? Again, I’m not intending to smear or ridicule. I just think those things should’ve been made more clear in the transaction process.

Four stars because the store has a sign asking customers to wear a mask, but the staff were not wearing them. Everything chocolate you could possibly want. Gifts, snacks, treats. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I bought a mole sauce. The store smelled heavenly and I could have stayed even longer. I will definitely remember Kakao when I want to find gifts for the chocolate lovers in my life.

Heard about this local chocolate shop and we had to visit this place. The first thing we were greeted with were fresh samples and they did not disappoint in the least bit. Prices are expected for specialty shop but we got a great assortment of candies, chocolates and ICE CREAM for a good price. Shopping local is always nice, cool here to see their entire operation in the open.

I applied for this business for the position of chocolatier. They called me for a phone interview and the owner (who was interviewing me) was extremely disrespectful. He made me repeat myself and accused me of lying about my own work experience. And then he said he’d call me back to tell me whether or not I would get a second interview. He never called me back. I think it’s extremely disrespectful to waste someone’s time and energy to make them interview, be disrespectful to them during the interview, and then say they’ll be in contact and never contact them again. Restaurant owners in this city do not respect potential employees and this is a prime example. Completely unprofessional.

Per Kakaos response: please take some accountability for your owner being rude. If you’re personally interviewing someone for a position it’s your responsibility as a business owner to respect them. And I did in fact reach back out and was ignored repeatedly. I stopped reaching out because of the immense disrespect of the whole situation. This owner clearly doesn’t know how to take any accountability for any of his employees being rude or himself being rude. I am smart enough to sense disrespect, and the fact that I wasn’t emailed or called for a follow up shows that I truly was...

They nickel and dime you and hide service fees. Their chocolates cost $2 a piece and are tasty, but when you buy a 16 piece box they not only charge you for $2/piece but then another $2 for the box. Then on top of that they are now charging an 11% "Shifting Economy Service Charge" to cover their costs for tariffs. The problem is that it's not something they tell you up front. They claim that signage is posted at the door and register, but I never saw such signage. If prices have to go up because of tariffs, then raise the prices. Don't hide it and charge it on top without explicating telling people. Had the actual price been increased and shown on the tags, I still would have bought the item and wouldn't have given it another thought. But it was because I saw the posted price and then later was charged the fee without knowing such a fee was going to be charged, that's where I have an issue. Although their chocolate tastes good, their business practices leave a bad taste in my mouth. ...
