I can’t believe I have to post something like this but I just left Scheidt’s on Monday January 20 at precisely 6:00 pm (their closing time) I was looking for 3 different items, and the y only had 1 of what I was looking for. But that notwithstanding it’s what happened immediately after I walked out, I was still in the foyer when I noticed a young lady and her little girl (daughter) running across the street for the front door. As I turned to make sure they made it across as Manchester is quite busy, the (this is the only way I can identify the two guys) the white guy reached up and pulled the “open” sign off, and they were standing at the door. I yelled over and said “knock on the door, they’re standing right there, I just walked out, they’re decent guys they should open up for you for a minute.” They knocked and the black guy actually waved them away and turned the closed sign around, locked the door in their face and walked away. I asked them what they needed, and she said just a little combination lock for her daughter’s locker at school. I told them I thought Schnucks had them and they walked across the parking lot. Now I try to patronize every local business I can, and have lived in and around Maplewood since 1968 ( yes, a long time 55 years and spent many a dollars there.) But I will NEVER walk through those doors again after witnessing that attitude! I know they are somewhat new owners, but good luck staying in business if you treat...
Read moreWhen I walked in I saw an extremely clean store. I was greeted and asked what I was looking for. The two gentlemen at the counter immediately started looking and could not find the part in stock which is a really hard part to find. They checked their catalog which had many things close to it but no go. There were many things I was impressed with including personalized service and I could see that the associate genuinely liked what he was doing. The store appears small from the outside but when you walk in you see well stocked shelves very neatly organized and a great variety of items as well. When I make it back up to Brentwood I will stop in because of the nice impression the gentleman made. It is a store You shouldn't pass up. Check it out and see if they can help you. I would like to thank you guys for an...
Read moreI love having a local hardware store so close (I’ve lived in the area six years now) and I value shopping local, so I stop in here from time to time instead of going to the large chain hardware stores. If I know exactly what I want I’m a patron and I’m in and out. If I have a project I’m unsure of how to execute, I’ve learned to go to Home Depot instead. The staff at this maplewood location is not friendly nor helpful. Whereas Home Depot staff spend the time to chat with you about your project so they can help you find the right hardware. The stars are given for the heritage not the...
