Sorry this got long, I’m just actually really really disappointed right now. I truly love this place. The food is always so delicious and the service is usually 100%. I’ve been craving it again lately these past few days, so I figured I’d try placing a call in order so that it’d be ready for pick up by the time I arrived. Unfortunately for me, they weren’t willing to do a simple substitution request, that I’ve honestly NEVER had problems with from ANY restaurant before, so the order was never successfully placed. I personally am not a fan of corn tortillas in the slightest bit on any dish outside of nachos, I just honestly can’t get past the texture of them when having wet foods or sauces in them. This has ALWAYS been an issue for me, so I ALWAYS make sure to request that FLOUR tortillas are used instead on ALL of my orders EVERYWHERE. This is how I KNOW that Locoz Tacoz has willingly and successfully prepared my orders with zero pushback whatsoever in the past. The only thing is, I usually get their locoz fries over everything else that they offer, so I’ve only had orders where they subbed out the tortillas for me once maybe twice tops from this place, so it’s not frequently ordered enough to where THEY would remember. I mean NO disrespect, but I absolutely HAVE had a flour tortilla subbed birria taco/quesadillas from Locoz Tacoz before. The order was successfully made with no pushback from the cashier or cook, and it I remember this because when I ate it, it truly was WONDERFUL and DELICIOUS!
For some reason, today the cashier has denied my very simple and easy substitution request, and even said that they don’t and/or can’t make their birria orders with flour tortillas, because flour tortillas aren’t strong enough to support the fillings when dipped into the consumé sauce, which I can imagine is a real thing that might possibly happen, but she even insinuated that there was no way I would have ever had that from them in the past, since she is the manager/owner? and her husband is the cook?? I just find this very odd to insinuate, because I personally know what I’ve had from this exact restaurant in the past…
I know it never means anything when people say stuff like “you just lost yourself a customer!” Or anything similar to that, but it really is very disappointing to the customer and that’s ESPECIALLY SO when it’s not a big food chain that you can just go to a different location of… There was no rudeness at all, but it still FEELS like a slight against you when a restaurant that you truly enjoy and that is LEGITIMATELY one of your FAVORITE food places to patronize, just a flat out says NO to even attempting to try making the very simple food request that you need, and have ALWAYS successfully ordered from any Mexican restaurant you’ve ever been to, with no trouble whatsoever. I’ve even personally cooked this at home for myself a few times, and definitely DID NOT experience this so-called difficulty of the flour tortillas fall apart… The request is absolutely 100% possible, and not at all difficult to make without having it actually fall apart during the prep and cooking process, your current cook just for some reason must not know how to successfully execute it, so instead of learning how to, or even just attempting to try cooking it, you’ve decided to disappoint and turn away a loyal customer of yours, from one of her absolute favorite Mexican food spots. Which again, I know one single customer means absolutely nothing to the business itself, you’ll get many more customers that don’t have this weird situation with corn tortillas, because the food really is great. Locoz Tacoz is a place that does deserves a 5 star rating, but this situation to not fill a very simple and absolutely 100% possible substitution request, that again is absolutely possible to successfully do, it’s just not giving great 5 star worthy service, and it really does hurt the customer when it’s a genuine favorite...
Read moreA very small little taco shop, the food is very good, the beef was not a ground beef but it was shredded, this was in there gringo taco. The chicken, is a grilled chicken with some good spice, they have a myriad of sauces for you to choose from. We tried extra spicy and hot. Both had a pretty good flavor. Overall they were very fast and preparing our food to go. the downside to this place is the menu. I took pictures of the above menu which looks perfectly fine. But there is no pricing on any of the things there. Instead they have another version of the menu to the left in chalk, with pricing and things like that. The menu on the chalkboard for the pricing is a little confusing. It says minimum two tacos or three tacos etc ... And then has a price. Thinking that the two or three tacos is a meal, and you can add more tacos after that. With the price being right next to it. It looks more like this is the price for two or three tacos. Then you have the fish taco, which is two tacos for the price next to it. Which adds more confusion. They need to place their prices on the top menu that way we know there's a consistency for the price of the tacos. And have specials on the chalkboard. If there is a minimum purchase of two or three tacos, place the full price for those two or three tacos. Then add the price for individual tacos with that meal. All prices for the tacos and food need to be on the top board so it's easy to see, and not on a chalkboard to the side with stuff in front of it. Things they need to improve. Pricing on the top board, for individual tacos, special pricing and specials on the chalkboard that can be adjusted daily. A more clear menu on pricing per individual Taco as well as if there is a minimum of two or three tacos that need to be purchased, then they need to rope it into a full price for that meal. With the cost of every individual taco price next to that. I'm removing one star because they are not offering a military discount. Or free drink to military and veterans with a purchase. They are a little expensive for the tacos, but the tacos do taste good. Four tacos for $25 is a...
Read moreOverall, you can tell this is an authentic Mexican place, I highly recommend if you want some street tacos!
WAIT TIME: Lunch at 1:45pm on a Sunday, only one person in front of us to order. Food only took like 5 mins to come out.
FOOD: We got street tacos. I tried the Al pastor and the asada. Both were SO GOOD!! You could taste all the spices, and paired with the salsa verde, it was delicious. The tacos were also overflowing with meat, very good portions. The tortillas are drenched in oil as is traditional of street tacos.
SERVICE: Ordered at counter, cashier was friendly, and offered to answer any questions. He even asked us at the end if everything was good; very nice people!
AMBIANCE: I like the hints of Mexican decor, and there’s enough diner-style tables to grab a seat.
PRICE: Came out to around $13 for 3 street tacos. I feel like the concept of street tacos is that each is like $2-3, so this might be on the higher end of that, but to be honest, I felt like it was appropriately priced for a lunch plate and for how much...
