The store has adorable items and worth a trip, however, don't pull your phone out and do anything on it. I dropped their score and did not buy anything due to their salesperson today (assuming she was the salesperson and not the owner).
I am trying to figure out a way to decorate using glass containers and shadow boxes to store 150+ very small shells to several large horse conch shells. I was texting my friend pictures of items I was thinking of buying and discussing how it could be used to decorate my house. A few items I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy now, never, or later (there or online) since I was still in the design phase. The salesperson approached me twice the first time saying they could ship to me which was nice but at the same time not free. About 4 minutes later, I was looking at an item and their cost actually was better then the internet with shipping so I was thinking of buying them there but I was still trying to debate how I would utilize them in the decor.
The salesperson then approached me a second time where she came alongside me and looked right at my cell phone screen to see what I was doing on my cell. Now, I didn't see any store sign about pictures, texting friends for advice, and price comparison. She then in front of customers said out loud that they work hard to get unique pieces and they prefer me to support them vice me copying their work or buying elsewhere. She then went on about me taking pictures of their products and said it hurts their finances if I don't buy from them. I wasn't going to copy them, and if they are concerned about copying they probably shouldn't put pictures of their products on FB and other places.
I get their concern but I said to her that customers have to watch their finances just like them. I could have explained the real reason of what I was doing and why but honestly she ticked me off and really it wasn't her business that the 3 pictures were to ask my friend what she thought, that I have a fear of shipping glass, and that as a consumer I have a right to do price comparisons while trying to figure out my decor design.
As a previous manager and Finance major, I get stores of all sizes are competing against the big internet gorilla and it makes it hard on them so I always try to support the mom and pop shops first if the costs are not much more then the internet, the item is unique, or the salespeople are fantastic and customer service oriented. I had just bought $600 in the last hour at other stores nearby. I had a bag from another store in my hand and I looked at her and said "I do buy from stores but their salespeople didn't approach me the way you did."
I decided not to buy anything even the items that would have saved me money because of her loud and accusatory statement. She was not mean about it, but was very assertive and loud. If a company doesn't want customers to have their cells out, text friends, take pictures, think about home decor while looking at items, or price compare then put a sign up vice trying to embarrass or falsely accuse a customer of future copying. She could have quietly whispered her concerns and listened to my reasons for my actions and maybe we could have been on the same page. I probably would have bought about $150 dollars of small shadow boxes and a few other things. But...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went in the first week of September while staying in Marco Island for a shelling trip. We live in Fort Myers and Marco is a great getaway with less people and traffic. We found an ad for Shore Goods while flipping through a magazine at the Vbro we rented. The eclectic mix of antiques and beachy items was enough for us to stop in. I'm so glad we did. The owner was very nice and the wonderful mix of merchandise provides something for everyone. I purchased sea glass beads and a vintage arched window frame in a beautiful soft teal. I could have spent so much more time wondering around looking at all the beautiful shells, jewelry, and home décor. Its all thing beachy & nautical; old & new combined in an exceptional tasteful way. I can't wait for our next trip down to Marco because I will surely be stopping in to see what new finds there are to...

It’s a brilliant gift shop/home decor/antique/craft shop and the list goes on…After you’ve collected all of your shells (or if you didn’t find all you wanted), make sure to come here for ideas for your beach finds. My teenage daughter and I bought gorgeous shells along with containers for our shells and kitchen decor too. The lovely owner also has perfect gift ideas ranging from picture frames, to magnets, to stationary, to glassware, to candles, to soaps, to fun antiques.. It’s a charming store like no other in Marco!! If you’re looking for something different than all the other shops, come here! If I lived here I’d also be here often looking for new art and fun home...
