Oh my, I must be living in 1955! *Please note, that these folks only give their customers notifications via USPS, NOT by the most commonly used methods of communication, e.g. email or phone/text. *
Unfortunately, on our part, in the lengthy, lease agreement for this firm, we didn't see that they would, with very little notice, and only by mail; notify us of a significant financial raise on our storage units.
When we started with this firm in June, 2022, we used our current address, thinking in our own ignorance that they would honor the rent or at least not increase it astronomically, without at least calling or emailing. In the course of ONLY four months, this firm raised the rent from $86 to $120 on a 5x10 unit, and $147 to $207, on a 10x10 unit. My husband just talked with an employee working at this location, asking why we weren't at least given a courtesy call or email, and she curtly responded that this firm only notifies by USPS. Since when do firms not call or email on such a significant matter?! Words that come to mind, dishonest, unprofessional, unethical. This firm will dangle one month of free rent, and then significantly raise your rent in no time! We deserved a phone call or email, as do every customer. ** Addresses change all the time for people, get with the times, Extra Storage Space! I implore you to be ethical and actually call and email your consumers. Further, I will be reporting your firm to the Better Business Bureau. We would like a refund (not credit for the unit) for the fees you collected without the proper, and currently appropriate methods of communicating with people.
Consumers, take your business elsewhere, as we will be! Learn from our mistake, read every darn line in these storage contracts!...

"Snakes" is too nice of a word to describe them. They lure you in with a low price and then double the rate, knowing full-well that most people will simply bend over and take it, rather than go to the trouble of moving their belongings.
READ THE FINE PRINT. I signed on for a 13 month contract at $33/month. Only 3 months in, they starting billing me for $67/month.
I spoke on the phone with a very condescending representative who kept repeating, "Ma'am, I'm trying to work with you," in a snarky tone, as if I were the problem, rather than their unethical business tactics. My favorite part was when she insisted that "all storage companies do this to their customers," trying to justify their dishonesty.
I am 2,000 miles away, so unfortunately I have to hire movers to empty my unit and take my business to Maricopa Self Storage. I should have trusted my gut and chose them from the beginning rather than taking a chance on Extra Space.
Is it called "Extra Space" because they will force you to make extra space in your budget for their surprise rate increases?
It's no wonder that most of their units are sitting unrented. Don't be conned-in by their false advertisement like I was. With so many options for storage in Maricopa, save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this...
Read moreHad an issue originally when tried to do reservation online back in November. System limitations and what the person in charges stated were promotions that should have been removed from the website but weren’t. Spent a significant amount of time trying to get what was advertised on website. Intended to lock in for a year and found out when the price increased that we were not locked in for the year. Tried to do a new reservation /rental and have the email with the new reservation price and was told all set on the price. Called today to confirm and was told price now $20-30 more per month. When asked why they wouldn’t honor the quote price that I have in writing I was told to vacate the locker we currently have as they will no longer do business with us. The location is nice and the facility is well maintained but not sure on why pricing is always an issue. Told there was no one else I could speak to. Definitely not good customer service and frustrating that everything is a run around to get the pricing the have...
