I have a disability, I have been in and out of the hospital since September. I was not aware that my account had fell behind because the card on file my husband took over while I have been ill. I called February 23rd 2024 to my Maricopa office and spoke with a female agent who told me my balance was $111.00. On February 25th I came to the location and was greeted by a very lovely young man named Jonathan R. He assisted with removing some of the fees and gave me a receipt to pay the club account balance now of $51. However I could not use the same card from previous so I had to run home and get another credit card instead which I had no problem doing. A few days later on 2/29/24 I stopped by the Maricopa office with card in hand to pay the $51 however I was discriminated against by a different representative Miss Scotland. She overcharged me, she balled up the receipt that I showed her for the $51 in front of me, and printed out her receipt that was higher at $70.60. she continued to reach around me checking in other guests despite having two co-workers beside her that could have checked those other guests in. She even started talking to another person that came in with a billing issue. Like I was not standing there holding the conversation with her. When I told her politely I have my receipt from Jonathan R that shows $51.00 was due she said in a nasty tone 'I don't know what to tell you if you don't pay this amount you can't come to this club.' When I asked for my receipt from Jonathan R back to prove it was $51 due she said 'no you have the receipt that shows 70.60' and I said again I need the receipt that I gave you originally. So she rolled her eyes and unbold the receipt and laid it on the counter. In a matter of a few days my account somehow went up $20.60. this was not even including Marches monthly withdrawal. Then last night also on 2/29 in the evening I checked my checking account and $49.98 was being withdrawn from my checking. So I have no idea what she did on my account but she took $70.60 from my credit card and 4998 from my checking. I'm quite dissatisfied with her behavior and dismissive passive aggression. I simply want to work on my rehabilitation and come to the club.
Update: I had the above issue with my local office and within an hour of my review I received a call from Jonathan R and his manager. They really took my concerns seriously and helped me out! Fast, friendly, and helpful. Many businesses haven't been treating clients like humans lately but glad to say this company is not in that category and they treat clients well! Read moreMy wife and I dropped in to check this place out the other day. We are currently members of a club and have been members of several different types of clubs over the years. PF was new to me, however. And let me just say, I was NOT impressed. First, we were greeted by the "do i really have to do one more tour before I get off shift" attitude from a pudgy young gal that could've at least have smiled and pretended she cared. It was funny that she was going into great detail of how to operate a treadmill when she looks like she has literally never been on one in her life. Overall impression: though everything is obviously sparkling new, clean and in perfect condition, the setting was a bit clinical and depressing. No upbeat music, an overwhelming hot pink color that just saps the life out of you. Psychological studies show that pink calms you, not what i want in a gym! Also what does EVERY shopping mall, grocery story, and outdoor event have to make you happy to be there? Music! Perhaps it was just down that day we were there. More likely, this is part and parcel of the Planet Fitness business model which has the subtle effect of discouraging members from wanting to even show up, and even further discourages them from getting results (what, no grunting allowed? Seriously?). Folks all they want is your $10 a month and hope to never see you, and you'll keep paying because, well, because $10 is so cheap that you won't care and it'll allow you to be part of the cool crowd of gym goers. Just make sure you put that trademarked Thumbs Up bumper sticker on your car and have that keychain prominently displayed so you get your proper street cred.

To be fair, I am told that the music was down the day I visited. However i was also told by the same person that on their tour one of the staff members was being critical of a person that dared load a lot of plates on a bar and actually try to lift it. How dare someone actually try to improve and get stronger and heaven forbid if he actually grunted and got lunk alarmed. And, wait, i thought the motto was "No Critics". Apparently the only people judged at Planet Fatness are people that are fit and/or intent...
Read moreFor people who move out of state make it easier to cancel the account if they request. I requested to cancel my account several times through the app. I even called the store in Maricopa multiple times to cancel since I was not able to go into the gym directly and cancel. Several people told me to submit the request via the app, which I would, it still would never get cancelled. I had requested my cancellation in October of 2022, also in December of 2022, then again in February 2023 and finally got the managers email in March 2023 and that’s when it was finally cancelled. When I would submit a request to cancel through the app I would always get a reply back from the customer support team to submit my request through the app if I lived out of state, it still would never get cancelled.
Once the manager of the Maricopa AZ location cancelled it, I request a refund of one month monthly dues and my annual charge, she requested proof that I had submitted a request to cancel so I sent her all the automatic emails I got back from your customer support, she said this wasn’t proof I had requested the cancellation even though it stated how to cancel for out of state customers and she refused to help me with the refund. I could have disputed further charges for all the months I had requested but I only asked for one month refund with the annual charge refund. She still refused then stopped communicating with me entirely! It was very poor service from her! I was very disappointed in how I was treated and how she made me to feel like I was lying and just trying to get money back, which absolutely wasn’t the case at all!
