All around, I was personally disappointed. In general, it's a true shame that eating healthy and buying local, fresh produce is so expensive. $4.99 for blueberries. $5 for raspberries. $4.19 for a dozen fresh eggs. And I got some dried cherries ($4.59) because I wasn't impressed by the offering of fresh cherries. That's just too expensive for me. But I have been waiting for the opportunity to check Lakeshore Depot out since I've heard rave reviews from others. They had a very quick response on Facebook messenger to a question I had after hours last evening. I am disabled and asked what the parking situation and handicapped access was like. The answer was that it's a gravel parking lot with an easy access. I was welcomed to park on the cement slab near the entrance. And I was given the option of calling the store from wherever I parked, and they could bring items out to the car for me to chose from! That earned an extra star in my review by itself. I ended up parking on the gravel very near the garage door type entrance. No steps. It wasn't busy inside so I determined that I could probably take a quick trip inside relatively easily. Most things are clearly labeled and priced. There are fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and dairy. But lots of pre-packaged, healthy, organic type snacks. I saw gluten free items. The fresh soup/ice cream (Jilbert's Dairy) bar looked enticing but I had just had lunch. All in all, I made the purchases that I did for convenience. I've been craving real FRESH eggs and blueberries and am unable to frequent the local farmer's markets. So I paid for the convenience. Probably won't be a frequent shopper...
Read moreThe depot is such an incredible place - high quality groceries, baked goods, soups - full of incredible staff (shout outs to Jack, River, and Michael!).
The soup is BY FAR the best soup you can get in Marquette, the upper peninsula, and Michigan in my opinion. The recipes are unique and unbelievably tasty.
They just started hot food and it is soooo good too! Eating the green curry right now and it’s better than any other green curry I’ve had in the area.
Would give a million...
Read moreThis is such a welcome addition to town, providing much that we've missed since we lost Farmer Q's. It's a small space, but large enough to have a good selection of local and Michigan produce, dairy, meats, and baked goods, their own home-made feta (excellent) and some great guilty snacks. They sell a Mackinac Island lemonade I haven't seen elsewhere that's the best I've ever had. Worth seeking it out behind the Lakeshore Bike shop and Fred's...
