We do not typically write reviews, unless we feel obligated that other people should be warned of untrustworthy business. I read the reviews, which were down the middle good and bad. Cautiously we visited the store which is dark and very hot, but the two guys seemed honest and willing to answer questions. We were shown roughly 3-4 refrigerators (new) that would meet our requirements and needs. The color of each of these was white, which wasn't our top choice. On our own we discovered a black one that was exactly the same model number as the white ones we looked at. It was still in packaging (cellophane wrapped) so we couldn't look it over. BIG MISTAKE! The guys told us that the only thing wrong with it was a "bent handle" on the lower drawer that could be replaced for about $75. Our invoice even states "bent handle" and 1 year factory warranty. We trusted their word, paid the price the asked, and waited for delivery. By the way...be prepared to pay (above and beyond your invoice when you pay for the unit at the store) cash-only to the delivery driver...which is a little shady, and you have to wonder how they account for that with tax reporting?? So we received the unit, and the handle was bent (as expected), BUT there is massive dent in the top refrigerator door right by the seals. If you close the freezer below the refrigerator pops right open and can't stay closed because the dent interferes with the seals and magnets. So I called the guys, and explained the issue, and the same guy that seemed so trustworthy switched gears and became condescending. He laughed and said "well...we are a scratch AND dent store I'm not sure what you were expecting" - so in other words I should have expected to see dents and/or scratches that weren't pointed-out or noted when we purchase the item. How about when we ask "What is wrong with it?" that the company is transparent about the full extent of the damage...is that too much to ask?He offered a service guy to come out and take a look but made no promises and said it would cost us, but honestly - his response was so poor and he argued this was on us to check prior-to (although the unit was wrapped up tight) that we just called Whirlpool out to take a look. Turns out - the warranty does not apply for unit that are damaged in this way. WOW - we would not have purchased this refrigerator, and given this was our first experience with this store we felt compelled to write a review. It's not worth paying a few hundred less than retail price when the service and follow-through aren't there for you when you need it. They are anxious to make the deal, but be warned that your item may have hidden damage and/or additional damage after you leave (from transport) that they won't care about or own up to once...
Read moreThis is a great alternative to big box stores if you can live with a ding or scratch, that you likely won't even notice after you get home. We saved over $1000 on the fridge we wanted and there were only a couple of marks and a dent in the rear corner that is now hidden by our cabinets. Really inspect your appliance and take note if any interior parts are missing, etc. There were some near mint appliances and others that had massive dings or scratches. That goes for any scratch/dent store, not just this one. The appliances are covered by the manufacturers warranty, so you're covered if anything goes wrong with it beyond the cosmetic stuff.
Tony was our salesperson and he was very helpful and patient. He plugged in the fridge so we could verify everything was working properly. He also did a great job reducing the price even further than it was marked, after we talked about the different options we were considering. Never felt any pressure.
I was concerned after reading some of the reviews here and on Yelp, so my wife and I were on guard. We took pictures of the serial number and details of the fridge before purchasing. The store actually encourages you to do so, to make sure you get what was promised to you. When we expressed our concerns, Tony promised he'd put his best delivery crew on the job. That was Lou and his team.
The delivery crew was prompt and professional and kept us in the loop with their timing. They were out on the roads during a freezing rain storm. On that day, they hauled away our old, broken fridge in just a few minutes. We hit a snag when they unloaded the fridge on their truck. It turned out to be the wrong fridge. We spotted it quickly and I showed the crew the pic of the fridge we actually purchased. They knew exactly what happened (it was sitting right next to the fridge that got loaded). A quick call to the office confirmed that our fridge was still in the warehouse. They would have gone back that evening to get it, but because of the ice storm, the warehouse was closing and all trucks were getting off the road. It was a little frustrating, but people make mistakes and there's no controlling the weather.
Lou and his team promised to deliver the next day. I had a few conflicts that they had to work around, and they did so without complaint. The guys showed up to our house on the first stop and had the new fridge installed and running in less than 30 minutes. They took great care not to scratch any walls, floors, etc. Great guys to work with.
In summary, be aware of what you are buying, ask questions and communicate your needs and the people at Appliance Outlet will do everything they...

Buyer Beware!!! Dishonest Company selling damaged products and marketing them as new.
Then they try a forceful "we don't do returns" business practice. However this is not on the receipt, nor is it verbally disclosed.
I went to this store looking for a new fridge. I looked through the inventory and found one fridge that matched what I was looking for. I was told that the fridge was brand new and the only issue was the visible dents. I asked a second time, is there any issues with the fridge other than the dents and I was told no. I was ok with the dents, but the price was still high for a damaged fridge. After some negotiation, I reluctantly bought the fridge. I got the fridge home and went through the work of bringing it into my home and waited for the fridge to "settle". I proceeded to move all of my food over to it and the last thing I hooked up was the water line. I was also having problems with the ice-maker valve on my plumbing in my home. Once the ice-maker valve in my home was replaced, I hooked up the water line and plugged it in. I was shocked when I saw the LCD screen was cloudy and the water dispenser in the door continued to drip-leak. The leak was severe enough to fill up the drip tray in about 30 min.
This business is not honest with their customers, because a new fridge with dents only would not have a cloudy LCD screen nor would it have a water leak from the very second it was hooked up.
I promptly returned the fridge to the store. The receipt does not say no returns, but they insisted that they would not refund my money. I pointed out that I agreed to a new fridge with dents only; I did not agree to buy a fridge with a water leak and a cloudy LCD screen. I again asked for a refund and was told they would not do that by Matt. I told Matt that I'm leaving the fridge on the loading dock and I will just have to deal with the credit card company to get my refund.
I am still waiting on my refund to my credit card.
I wanted to rate the business at 0 out of 5 stars, but I had to rate it at 1 star to be able to post my experience.
If you were to add the cost of what I spent on the fridge and then the cost of repairing the fridge, I would have spent considerably more than if I would have just bought a brand new fridge. Not to mention there is NO Factory warranty when you buy a fridge through this company, poor customer service and you have to fight to get your money back.
Don't put yourself through the hassle, it's not worth it. Trust Me!
Update they processed the refund the same business day as this postThank you St Louis...
