I arrived on a cold, rainy night at this Marriott which is tucked away near the highway but a drive away from amenities (grocery...). The staff was very warm immediately. The lobby was handsome--shiny marble; clean, open restaurant; inviting lounge area with calming fireplace and wide-screen TV. The elevators were a surprising walk away from the check-in desk, but I at that point I was so impressed with the warmth of the check-in staff and the hotel's willingness to accommodate my room requests (a quiet room) that the walk didn't bother me. But when I got to my room, things took a marked downturn. First, the shower was filthy. There was a thick coating of what looked like shaved hair all over the dispensary of shampoo and body soap, and more hairs plastered against the shower wall. That was such a turn-off that had I not had a lot of work to do for a presentation I'd have asked for a different room or left for another hotel.
Sitting down to begin work, I next found the Internet connectivity wasn't working. I tried on three separate machines, including an Iphone and a Macbook. I called the front desk, but the connectivity problem persisted. I never got online and forfeited an entire night's work, missing my conference the next day.
Angry at this point, I tried to settle in for a night's sleep. The room had become cold so I tried to adjust the thermostat, setting it at 74-degrees. Intermittently, cold A/C air would blast out of the wall unit instead of hot air. My only option was to turn the unit off and remain cold.
To compound things, the residents next door went out and returned to their room at least five dozen times during the night, each time letting their door slam shut. Why don't hotels engineer their doors so they can't slam, but rather close quietly like modern kitchen cabinet doors?
I was stunned that Courtyard Marriott, which advertises itself as a solid mid-tier business hotel, failed on so many levels and I won't...
Read moreOverall good stay, a few complaints but nothing we couldn’t bare. It’s my fiancés birthday getaway and we scavenged all over town to find a hotel with a private balcony attached to our room while also in a safe, controlled, environment. We prefer Marriott properties for the cleanliness, manners, & organization. We made the reservation online through a third party because I had quiet a few $$’s in rewards available for a discount. (The room was quiet pricy without it.) After doing so we called directly to the hotel to make sure we could be assigned to a high floor room with a balcony attached. The receptionist was very short and moody. However she assured me she’d take care of it and took down my last name for the reservation. We brushed it off and took on our LONG drive to the hotel… Here’s where it gets a little more unwelcoming. We check in, our room did not have a balcony. No problem, we requested one & received. Although we ended up on the second floor which was not the highest but it sufficed, we aren’t usually complainers and we didn’t want to ruin the day.. Inspecting the room I found a condom; luckily it was unopened in a package & we are mature!! Shouldn’t have been missed but we laughed and tossed it. That evening we returned back to the hotel after a day full of events.. At basically dark after settling I stepped out to enjoy the breeze and look over the courtyard. I discovered that the balcony was disgusting! Covered with inches of dirt, some rocks that had been tracked in, and bird poop. It definitely needs to be tended to.. I was not impressed. No furniture to sit down on, no table to sit your drink on but I got a balcony. I recommend bringing a lawn chair and wearing shoes or your feet will be nasty!! Side note; We loved the pillows and the towels were also very comfortable. Wish there was a complimentary breakfast: We will definitely continue to choose Marriott, but this place needs some...
Read moreTERRIBLE. Do NOT stay here. My husband and I arrived here late Friday night. We made the booking because our usual hotel sold out. Upon arriving we were given keys to a first floor room, I had requested an upper floor. Not a huge deal, the lady said she ran out of king units on upper levels so we opted to keep our king on the first floor. I asked her if we were to stay another night how late I could book it and she said as long as they have rooms. When we entered our room we set our belongings down and noticed the room was not thoroughly cleaned. There was sticky stuff on the desk where I had set my purse, the night stands were covered with greasy finger prints, the sink still had make up and dirt from the last customer presumably, and there were curly hairs on the toilet. It was clear either the room was not cleaned at all or there was no effort put into it. Obviously I would NOT be staying another night. I went to the front desk and she said she would put us in a different room, she was not apologetic or sympathetic. We got keys to our new room and walked it and it looked at least cleaned. It wasn’t until we woke up we discovered there was blood on the underside of the bedding we had slept on all night. Hello, ew! We quickly hightailed it out of there. I will day the gal at the front desk Saturday morning was pleasant, however the gal that worked overnight was very unpleasant. The company basically said sucks to suck. Do not stay at Marriott, the company obviously does not care about its customers. Hyatt is the way to go. We checked into the Hyatt regency for Saturday and they were pleasant and very accommodating. Wish they would not have been sold out...
