I recently moved/relocated to this area from The Woodlands, TX. in the northern most part of the Greater Houston Area. The Woodlands Mall is one of the nicest and most popular in the city, with all of the "typical" Stores expecte; plus high end "bougie" Brands to accommodate the area. (If you know...you know 🤣) Most of the time, I would rather go to the Dentist than deal with having to go to the mall 🤦🏼♀️. It's "crowded" and parking sucks all year long, but Lord help you during the Holidays! It's like the same amount of people as an NFL game. However, Foothills Mall is a pleasant surprise! I've never seen it crowded or difficult to park even at the main entrances. It's clean, quite, and easy to get around. Even though it's smaller than big city malls, it has good variety of stores including popular places like Bath and Body Works, American Eagle, Finish Line, Belk, Journeys, etc. It also has a wedding dress boutique (looks like a better selection than David's Bridal from just walking past 🤷🏼♀️). And, what really blew my mind is that there is a County Clerk Office location in one of the store spaces where you can register your car to get license plates, apply or make payments for the different things you typically have to get from the Court Clerk, and I think you can even apply for a marriage license. 🤷🏼♀️ I literally went and switched my vehicle registrations from Texas to Tennessee and got new plates, and was done in less than 10 minutes!! No lines and at least 3 people/open stations at the desk!🤯 That is NOT what happens in Texas (Harris and Montgomery counties at least)🤣 There is also an AMC theater, has a couple of restaurants attached, and conveniently shares a parking lot/property space with Publix on one end and BJ's Wholesale on the other. As far as "mall shopping" goes, especially for stores that only offer locations within a mall setting, it's a completely unexpected pleasant surprise/experience, and prevents having to drive 30 minutes to the "big" mall in West Knoxville! I am deeply disturbed and utterly disappointed by the recent incident that occurred at this mall. As a concerned parent, I trusted this establishment to provide a safe environment for my 12-year-old daughter. However, what transpired was not only alarming but also left a lasting negative impression.
According to the new policy, individuals under 18 are not allowed to be unattended in the mall after 4pm. Unfortunately, my daughter found herself in this situation just five minutes past the designated time. Instead of handling the situation with sensitivity and professionalism, mall security acted in an aggressive and intimidating manner towards a young child.
Witnessing my daughter being surrounded by mall security, scolded aggressively, and forced to sit there until I arrived left her trembling with fear. It is absolutely unacceptable that she was made to feel as though she had committed a serious offense, especially when these individuals were mistaken for real law enforcement officers.
This incident, coupled with the mall's deteriorating condition and the increasing number of store closures, solidifies my decision to never set foot in this mall again. It is evident that the management has failed to prioritize customer safety and create a welcoming environment. Instead, their actions have only served to further tarnish the already declining reputation of this mall.
I strongly urge other parents and concerned individuals to reconsider visiting this establishment. The lack of compassion, coupled with the crumbling state of the mall, is a clear indication that it is no longer a place that prioritizes the well-being and comfort of its patrons. There are plenty of other options available that not only ensure a safe environment but also provide a more enjoyable and pleasant...
Read moreNice, pleasant, safe indoor mall in Maryville. At age 62, I'm old enough to remember when Foothills Mall first opened in the 80's. It was all the rage! Very popular. A really "big deal" and boost for the local economy. Fast forward many years, Foothills Mall is still operating nicely and a convenient shopping, dining, and entertainment center. Although, like many mall's (if they exist), Foothills has undergone several transformations; a few departures and several new additions to the Mall. The core of the mall is still intact; immaculate and well maintained. In my opinion, the mall looks great considering it's age. When you enter, the look, smell, and sounds take you back in time to the 1980s. If you're lucky enough to remember them, the 80's decade was awesome! Shopping mall's, like Foothills, played a big role and became extremely popular during the decade. Sadly, I can't go back to the 80's, but visiting Foothills gives me a good dose of nostalgia. The once large anchor stores, JCPenny and Sears are gone. However, Belk still maintains a very nice department store here. AMC movie theater has been added in later years. A TJ Maxx and Publix grogery store are recent additions. BJ's has just been completed. Foothills still offers many smaller retail stores and eateries inside the mall itself. The mall is also guite popular with walkers, especially early days. Foothills offers a wide, safe, indoor environment to walk and exercise. There is a lot of available retail space available (a sad sign of our time!). Thankfully, there are still many local and national tenants open and operating to make Foothills Mall a convenient...
