The Casual Pint — Restaurant in Maryville

So I made the drive out to The Casual Pint after seeing some pretty solid reviews on Google, thinking I’d find a spot with a killer beer selection. I’m big into craft beer, and I’ll be real—this just didn’t do it for me.

Now don’t get me wrong, they had a decent number of beers, but nothing that really grabbed me. If you’re looking for something that’s going to wow you or something rare or unique, you’re probably going to leave a little disappointed. The tap list and packaged beer options were pretty underwhelming for what I’d consider a craft beer-focused bar. Honestly, I’ve seen better options at gas stations back home—and I live in a small town.

That said, the bartender was phenomenal—super friendly, extremely attentive, and gave great recommendations for food in the area. Easily one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had. If I ever went back, it’d be just to sit at her bar again. She made the experience worth it.

The vibe of the place? It’s more of a neighborhood hangout. One of the regulars even told me, “this is kind of like a Cheers bar,” and I totally get that. Locals clearly love it, and that’s great—but if you’re coming here hoping for a top-tier craft beer experience, temper your expectations.

They do have beer to-go, with options to mix and match four- or six-packs, but again, selection was mid at best. Add in the stress of fighting traffic on US-129 just to get there, and I kind of wish I’d skipped it.

Glad I tried it, but wouldn’t go out of my way to return—unless I knew that bartender...

The Casual Pint has quickly become my favorite spot in town. The atmosphere is laid-back but lively, perfect whether you’re catching up with friends or just winding down after work. What really sets it apart, though, is the customer service. Everyone is welcoming and attentive without ever feeling pushy.
