Mashpee Ace Hardware — Local services in Mashpee

Yesterday I visited this store looking to pick up a hose adaptor for my child's inflatable pool. When I walked in the store was fairly quiet and there was a staff member at the cash register. Since I couldn't figure out the right adaptor, I asked that staff member if he could help me out. I attempted to show him a picture, but before I could say anything more he said "If we have what you need it is going to be right there!" as he pointed to the same spot I had been standing at for 5 minutes trying to figure it out.

After that I was personally annoyed, but kept looking until I overheard him speaking with other customers. He was rude, short, and made it clear that being helpful wasn't in his deck of cards. At that point I decided to leave and go to Botellos. What is frustrating is that as a resident I would like to shop within my town. I usually go to True Value, even though it is a chain, just because it is conveniently located. I will take the extra time and to go Botellos...

I’ve been going to this local hardware store for almost 20 yrs. As I read these later reviews, I’m in agreement that this store has degraded. Their prices have always been much higher than other sources. The convenience of immediate, neighborhood purchase usually justified the expense. Their service and attitude have always been 2nd rate…I agree with many of the reviews here. What I saw today, though, just pushed me off the fence. The very loud older guy behind the register was on a full blown political rant that you couldn’t avoid hearing. Everything from how great Canada is, to espousing the great benefits of Socialism, to how he would like to take some conservative Congressmen “out back and shout ‘em”. I’m not in a hardware store to listen to employee political opinions, especially violent ones. I can find everything I need from online and just a little bit further down the road....

This place is outstanding. You may think it's just another Ace hardware store but it's the people inside that make the difference. The crew here is knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. All the things that one used to get at a retail shop. I'm a contractor now and I plan to use these guys as much as I possibly can in the future. They've gone out of their way to explain things to me that have saved me time on my projects. Highly recommended! June 2023: All of what I said above still applies.
