DICK'S Sporting Goods — Local services in McHenry

I feel bad leaving a review like this but I had a bizarre situation. 2 days ago I bought some items and the clerk and I struck up a conversation about the military. She was very friendly and was enlisting herself, and she advised me to take advantage of Dick’s Military discount, she even called her manager to find the code at another aisle. I HATE asking for a military discount, it’s kind of embarrassing to me, but I appreciated the effort she went through and I wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Came back today to buy another jacket in a different color, and a different clerk tried to claim Dick’s didn’t offer one and hadn’t for a while, that it was only a summer discount. That’s very strange to me, and she also didn’t bother asking other staff members or really investigate it any further. Really odd, I don’t care that much, it’s only 5%, but it stuck with me when I left the store. I felt embarrassed for even asking.

I don’t really blame the clerk, if that’s a Dick’s thing now then I’m really not interested in shopping there any further, as there are people who should get that discount more than me, but dang, she really should’ve verified that. Sticking with Dunham’s I guess.

Today I stopped to buy a water bottle at dicks after I was done selecting it and making my way to the cashier (Jhon) I was checking out and my mom showed me this other cup that I liked way more I didn’t dismiss paying it and Jhon was already arguing that I couldn’t switch out the cup that I had to finish paying I was letting him know that I wasn’t finished paying and that I could still switch it out but no he kept arguing with me so I told him to cancel the payment and that I wasn’t going to buy it anymore so I could go and get the other cup I wanted he tried to argue but then slammed the cups down and I took them to switch out the cups I got my cup and made my way to the cashier then he left his cashier to go to another one and as he was checking me out he was mumbling under his breath and giving a horrible attitude the customer service from Jhon is horrible if you can’t work in customer Service then do not yelling at consumers and arguing with them is not professional.if I could give zero stars I...

This store refuses the take the safety of one's children as a priority. Laughing off notions of faulty saftey inspection and standing behind their products. I wouldnt buy another thing from this location and urge others to do the same especially when it comes to bikes. Son's bike was purchased here, and the store even noticed there was something wrong and still didn't even offer to fix it stating it was outside of an unposted or stated policy of 24hr. This should have been caught during the safty inspection at the end when I questioned they said didnt you look at the bike. Apparently it is up to yourself to inspect their products for safety. It took their own corporate office to make up for their lack of proper management. Maybe just stay away from their Bikes less than 5 mins of use 2 bent rims, broke breaks, and crooked fork and that is the way they sold to us.
